Oil Sight Glass
Another "not sure" issue! My oil sight glass is very dark. I've tilted the bike with a friend over as far as it will go & there seems to be no movemen…login to view the rest of this post

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
I fully intend to! I found a nice route driving through Breadon today on my way to Pershore. Looking forward to taking the steed on a run tomorrow. Out of interest has anyone changed their side stand? Mines looking a little worse for wear! Does anyone live around Gloucestershire? I checked the ride ...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
I've never known another person call it the idiot light! Haha.
I can usually get around 130-140 but I only tend to hit 30-50mph.
Education is brilliant. 5 weeks off now.
Plenty of riding time. Plus the weather is actually great for a change!

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
That is sad. Not because you won't but because you can't. It's just a pain in the ass having to get it through the gate everyday plus I think I may be annoying the neighbours :) Only slightly! Haha! Unintentional of course! Thank you SteveR1. Let's say 1/4 life crisis? I'm a Sports Tutor/Teacher. I ...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
Cheers Gucci!
It took me ages to get it right.
I spent this afternoon redyeing the leather seats!
Any ideas on lockable covers? Anybody use them?
I've moved the bike from the garden to the road now so would prefer to keep it away from the elements.
Cheltenham gets rain 345 days a year!

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
I had one lesson on a 125 & then moved to a 600. Everything was then done on a 600. Bought the R1 before I passed & have been riding it ever since. In regards to the mophead being experience then I stand corrected. Thinking about it, it has taught me valuable little lessons. For example, nev...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
In my defence I didn't realise that everybody would assume I learned on an R1. I mean I'm crazy but not that mental! I'm happy to be guest but won't stand rudeness my friend. R1 is the first bike that I've owned. The 125 & 600 were my instructors bikes. Hope that clears everything up. Anybody el...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
It is the first bike I've owned.
I was taught on a 125 & moved up to months on a 600.
So I've moved from 125 to a 600 then to an R1
I don't really count the mophead.

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
Jompy you started so well & I had a lot of time for your first comment. Now I've boxed you in with PJc. There is no need to be rude or personal. I don't know him & he doesn't know me. I would still prefer him to stay away from my future posts. I learned on a 125 then moved onto a 600. I have...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
WOW! Slightly over opiniated & rude. I suppose you get the self righteous on every public forum. Just for the record I also own a car so not sure how you've come to the whole selfish conclusion. The bike is a weekend toy as my job dictates that I must carry a ridiculous amount of sport equipment...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
Everything helps I guess. I still ride with my old instructor from time to time. Each to their own I suppose. I realised this would be somewhat of a controversial topic before I posted. My bike is a beautiful machine. Like any other machine, the more experience you have the easier it becomes to oper...

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
I read so many forums about having an R1 as a first bike.
Most pointed me in the direction of the "Crazy" sign.
I have no intention of disrespecting the machine as so many riders put it.
What won't last very long?

Re: R1 Newbie - First Bike
It is a crazy choice but I'm a "deep end" kind of guy. I had a discussion with a friend of mine who mentioned some track day training. I fully intend to look into it. The more experience the better. I have restraint. My wife is 8 months pregnant. I HAVE TONS OF RESTRAINT!!! I think I may h...

R1 Newbie - First Bike
Now I am not naive enough to think that I will not get maximum finger wags when I tell everybody that I chose an R1 as my first bike. At the age of 25 I've become bored by 4 wheels. I needed a new thrill so decided to take a trip down "Mid Life Crisis" lane, grow a beard & buy a motorb...
