just to close the thread. it looks like it was a bad earth causing the issue. I added a separate earth direct to the frame and went for a ride.

fair enough. If they really are crap then i'll stay away and go for an electrex one as they sell solid kit ( but at a cost, about £90)

definitely a mod i can recommend. On my other bikes i usually just wire in a manual switch to turn the fan on/off as and when i want.

I did this mod today after changing coolant! Fan kicks in at 92/93 and stays on until engine is back down to 80something which is good enough for me …login to view the rest of this post
