cooling fan temp kick in

hi could any one tell me the cooling fan temp kick in for my 4xv

between 105 & 112 degrees there is a thread about a switch that kicks the fan in sooner .

The standard thermo switch should turn the fan on at 104°, but it was more like 108 on my bike. I thought that was a bit warm!

The thermo switch from an early Accord will fit and switches the fan at 91°.

I don't know part numbers, but I bought one for an '85 Accord and it's been fine.

On most bikes i wire in a manual override switch but i'd like to avoid that if i can

might be also worth replacing your rad cap and putting new coolant in

I might get one tbh they mine does get hot - never overflows or refuses to cool down when the fan cuts in but i would prefer it to not get so hot. So ill have a look for 85 Honda Accord temperature sensor then.

You will need to do some trimming to get the standard plug to fit. Otherwise it's a straight swap.

The only downside is the fan does run more often, so you're more likely to get hot air blown on you in slow traffic. But I did not enjoy sitting at the lights watching the temperature going up and up, waiting for the fan to come on.

It's rebranded but I can't remember who the manufacturer is.

PS It looked too long to fit the R1 radiator but is directly opposite the inlet hose so fitted OK.

I experienced so much of that in the Island last year, as soon as I got back I replaced mine with an OEM part from Fowler’s and now all is good.

Pretty regularly at 105, never higher and fan kicks in immediately. It only ever gets to 105 in really hot weather and stopped in a traffic jam at the same time of which there are too many TT week and also getting out of race meetings!! Otherwise runs about 78 degrees

That was my experience with the standard thermoswitch also, except mine would get a few degrees hotter.

It just made me nervous to have the engine get that hot. If there was s problem with the cooling system, then your only about 10-15° from temps where you'd start to get worried.
