Maxxis tyres are fine, about Avon standard. Just check how old they are. Looks like 0313?

Hated the ones on mine but as you say they could have been old , heard a few people slag them but then that's the internet for you
I saw a comparison test where they were quite impressed with Maxxis tyres. There is nothing wrong with their car and bike tyres.

In my admittedly limited experience, I think you can expect that any used bike more than a few years old will need new tyres. My 4xv came with worn Sport Attacks, and fitting new tyres transformed the bike.

They do feel hard but ill check the dates tomorrow but whilst ive got the wheels out i might just put some new miches on it anyway.

If there's a second tab on that front sprocket tab washer then I'd bend it up as I've had a front sprocket nut came off

Hard to tell from the photo, but the tab that's bent looks OK.

I've had the nut come loose with an aftermarket sprocket, but the tab stopped it from coming off. No problems with the OE sprocket though.

Just wait till you get to ride it properly mate you'll fucking love it :dance:
No snapped Exup bolts ! :dance:
Keep your eyes open for a set of cheap 5jj carbs , that way your not messing with your own carbs and if you don't like the 5jj carbs you can sell them or if you do like them you can buy the pilots for your carbs and sell the 5jj's ;)
Just remember if you haven't got carb balancers I have some here

Or you can just buy 4 #15 pilot jets and replace them. Given the low mileage, that could be a better option than taking a chance on a set of used carbs.

I've gone through the specs and parts lists, and that is the only difference I can find between UK 4xv and 5jj carbs. But does it make a difference!

Swinging arm back in, suspension linkage back together all regreased bearings like new. Bits and pieces all cleaned up and looking good. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

It's only done 16k moise and by the looks of it I would say that mileage is genuine. I have sprayed it with same satin as it was straying to peal on the one corner. I may get a guard. But my FJR has 30k on that and the rad is still pretty mint.

Yes, and your roads aren't covered in chip seal like most roads in NZ.

I'll probably leave mine as it does the job and you can't see it behind the guard. But the radiator guard itself is a bit rough - I might replace it.

It was on the bike when I bought it. Yes, it certainly protects the radiator. Quite heavy though and I expect it reduces the air flow.

Yes moise they all reduce the air flow and if you ride in the british winter (salt) its been known to get stuck between the cover and the rad and rot the rad away. Not something i will need to worry about as im a fair weather rider these days. :lol:

Salt is one thing we don't have to worry about in NZ, unless you ride on the beach. :)

You would have thought that someone who owned it previously would have changed the fuel filter but then you would have thought they would have kept the tank topped up to stop it rusting!!!!Image
