Just joined ,newbie

Post by Slimwilly »

Hi , I am fro Leominster, sept bought a 2004 5vy R1 track bike, been down the road ,partially fixed, finished it and straight onto the race track.
I race with north glos road race club.
And member of MUAR if you know them.
Raced a fz1 fora year and half, frame cracked so had to grab first r1 that came up so that my parts fitted it, ie wheels.,crash guards, upgraded forks.
So will be asking a few questions.
Started racing last year at 57, got 7 trophys this year and 3rc overall in streetstock,

Welcome to the forum William, like all racers, you have my total respect, you are doing something that I couldn’t and at the tender young age of 57 very impressive.

Age to me is a number rather than a tag.... like “your 59” (that’s me ) so you are old... nah.... it’s how you feel inside and how you look after yourself that matters.....

Welcome to the forum and best of luck in adding to your trophy haul

Stephen

You don't stop riding bikes because you're old -you get old because you stop riding bikes.

The 5VY is awsome to race, already had ohlins rear and ohlins steering damper with my upgraded forks it rides so smooth and feels safe even on braking with the rear 2 feet in the air

Same Ohlins shock and damper on mine so loving the sound of this Mr. Willy (or can I call you Slim)! Presume thats carbon pads with your arse in the air and was thinking of swapping mine out until I’ve got used to it. First time will be Brands in April and Im fairly new to track. What do think??

Yes you will be ok, bike is easy to ride, I was raising the rear end at Castle coome,, lots of chicanes at the end of straights, and while racing you leave braking as late as possible,,,,sometines too late ,lol
