R1 2017 exhaust issues for track

Post by Achapman »

Hi guys,

Want to track the R1, it’s a 2017 model that I have de cat. If only I knew the issues it would bring....

Anyway, I need to find an exhaust that will take it down to 105dbs, ask it’s currently 140 😬 and the lovely people at the track won’t let me take it on there. It’s got an alto end can at present, but like I said it’s de cat.

Can someone tell me what I need, where to get it, what I have to do! Can send pics if needed.

Cheers
Ange

Im sure Yoshimura do a system with a removable baffle that some of the guys use.

Also there is a Leovince decat with a small resonator in the pipe that can help keep the noise down when coupled to the right end can.

Unfortunately as you have found cross plane engines can be too loud for some tracks with a decat.

Akrapovic do a “trackday” slipon with an extra baffle.
There’s an Arrow decat system with a resonator box in the mid pipe too.
Old enough to know better.

Mhp, seton or pipewrex exhausts are the popular trackday choices

As you have found... the r1 noise is pretty much all managed by the cat... once removed its loud as a loud thing
