Hello all...

Post by WatoRM »

Just a quick hello, been riding now for 5 years currently got a Daytona 675 but will have a 2009 R1 next few months.
Out the country for a few weeks with work, plan to do as much research as possible I.e look at pictures of blue and black R1's and find out which is the fastest :D
Looks like a great forum, look forward to getting to know the members.
Cheers,speak soon,

Craig.

Welcome in Craig
If you can test ride a few of the 14b's , the early ones especially can give different power as standard , good luck

Hi Craig as jompy says test ride a few of them to make sure you get a good one. Btw the red ones are the fastest by a long way. The 14 b are like marmite Oreos either love or hate them. The throttle is snatchy and she is a heavy bike that needs muscling into corners but once mastered she will be a joy to ride with a soundtrack to due for

Welcome

Stephen

Thanks for the welcome and the advice lads. I'll post a picture soon as I get one.
I think clutch and CCT are, from what I've read things to look out for.
Will definitely pay close attention to this on the test ride thanks for the info.
BTW is 14B the 2009 models?
Nice one lads.

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum. Fuelling/throttle response also an issue with the 14B, but fixable.

Thanks mate, as long as I know what to expect, plus gives me something to do in the winter months.
How do you find the brakes on these models?

Welcome in mate. We all know the red framed R1s are the fastest. Brakes are good 6 pots at the front, I fitted HEL lines (highly recommend) and EBC HH sintered pads although still got a bit of fade on track (Knockhill - back straight over 100mph braking into a hairpin), for fast road no problems whatsoever. As said test ride first they are either for you or not. They sound brilliant with cans on. ;)

Brakes are not the best standard.
Brembo RCS master cylinder, lines and Brembo pads make a big improvement
