R6 13S 2009 Exhaust

Hi all. Just joined and I'm after some advice to help quieten my exhaust for track days.
I have a Termignoni exhaust fitted to my 2009 R6 and understandably it failed the 105Db limit, returning 109Db. I also have the original end can but that too fails at 108Db.
One option I've considered is fitting a silencer from a 5EB, because it's bigger and therefore I assume quieter. Does anyone know if the diameter of the pipe at the fitting end is the same? Naturally I would have to make up a bracket to mount it and maybe cut the pipe. Does this sound a realistic prospect or are there any easier alternatives. Any advice greatly appreciated.

welcome in pal - i know f-all about 2009 r6s' but if it's been de-catted that could be causing your sound pressure issues - so possible remedies could be 1- refit cat or 2- look into getting a track-day friendly baffle - good luck pal

Thanks for the welcome.
I've been biking, on and off, for over thirty years. Notable bikes I've had are Z1000J, VFR750F, CBR1000F and I still have a VTR1000F. I used the VTR on a few track days last year at Castle Combe but soon found its limits by digging the foot pegs in on the corners! Hence I bought the R6 which I love for its enthusiasm to be thrashed. I'll try and upload some pictures later as she's a stunning example in Competition White. I'll also post my exhaust query in the 13S specific forum. Cheers.

The old J ended up buried in the side of a Honda Civic, sending me on my first flying lesson! Fortunately I landed safely. It was probably my least favourite bike, to be honest, due to reliability.

You should be able to run easily under a 105 with the standard length can and decatted full system so something's going wrong somewhere.

You mentioned castle combe, although they say 105 it isn't the same 105 you'd get read anywhere else, they're famously hard on noise.

I run a 13s full system with an MHP can, not the real short one but the same length as the standard 'short' can. I get 101 baffle out and 98 baffle in.

Getting the can repacked can make a good difference if it hasn't been done for a while. If you do end up having to go for the long side mounted can option MHP I know do a link pipe, longer can and bracket for about £230 all in I think it is, could be an option if you need it.

I got my hands on a 5EB can for only £40 so I'll have a go at mounting that first, even though it looks hideously large. Talk about ruining the looks of a good bike!

Castle Combe measure 1m from exhaust at 3/4 red line. Do you know the method used elsewhere?

Do you have any links to where you got your can from?

That's where the difference is then, standard practice is to test at 7000RPM (on a 600) but if Combe are doing 3/4 max then that would be like 12,000.

Hope they run the rugular 7000rpm ACU rules for race meetings because I'm racing up there at the Motorcycle Grand National meeting in July!

When you recorded 101 and 98 was that at the standard ACU 7000RPM?

Nice one, well I shall be there in the Open 600 and the Street Stocks 700 #19.

Yes 7k RPM is pretty standard for most circuits for noise measurement, Castle Combe are just famously difficult to pass.

You can turn up to any of their track days to get noise tested though whether you're riding or not so might be worth doing that just for peace of mind one you've got the bigger can on and you're local enough.

Maybe have a longer link pipe made and mount exhaust where the earlier r6 did
