I'll be after an R1 soonish..

Post by dandan »

Hi All.

I currently own a very tidy FZR1000 and I'll be looking for an R1 to replace it in the near future so I thought I'd come and hang here for a while and get to know the R1 a bit better before I dive in.

I'm in my mid thirties and have been riding since my teens on and off. I do like my FZR loads but time has come for a change for something newer and lighter.

I'm not too sure yet. I'm trying not to have my head turned by the crossplane because i'm not sure its the model I am looking for. Maybe a 2007 - 08? But to be honest, I'm not a snob about model years as anything will feel massively different to the FZR (sorry fizzer, I don't mean it :D ). I dont want carbs, pee'd off with jetting those now, and i want something lighter, so anything fuel injected onward.

No not yet. At the moment I have been only looking at reviews and stats.

The 14b looks to be way more thirsty for not a lot of gain, but it is newer tech in all other areas. The previous model seems (to me) to be worth every penny and with the headlining and catchy 'big bang' named engine the previous models price has dropped a bit.

I'll ride a few before I make up my mind.

That said if another model were to cross my path at the right price I'd consider that also. I could just as easily end up with something older. All R1's are going to feel nimble compared to the FZR.

I LOVE my 4c8 08 bike but also owned the first injected 5pw model and its the lightest off em all, either is a grand choice

Hi Dan, the 4c8 is a good bike as are all the injected models the 14b is as you are aware totally different, think a few test rides are in order. Enjoy the forum and keep us informed on your choice.
