Racer from Wiltshire

Hi All
I've just moved to building an R1 race bike for next season after being on ZX10R's
The bike I've bought is an ex BSB Stock 1000 from CFM, and over the winter I'll paint it up in my colours and add a few bits and bobs
My current 2016 ZX10R

The R1 I've just picked up :

I've got a good list of things to do to the bike to make it mine, starting with selling off the fairings if anyone's interested, as they're way too nice to use on the track (they were painted by the guy that paints Shakey's bikes), and they're not in my colours etc anyway.
I've ordered a couple of sets of CRC fairings to get painted in my colours, I'll fit a Thumb brake and probably get a new race dash for it too (It already has kit ECU/Loom), and I've managed already to source a few sets of spare wheels etc.
MSS have always looked after my ZX10R's, and they're sorting me a Spark exhaust so I can get it through sound testing if I do any trackdays as it's way too loud at the moment - It has a full Ti CFM race exhaust that makes about 110db static.
I'd be interested to hear some feedback on the Spark exhausts on R1's if anyone has used one ?

The idea is to get it finished by Feb as I'm out in Cartagena for a few days, so it'll be a good time to get all the set up stuff done and see how it compares to my ZX10R - I was out there this week on the Kawasaki, so I have some data to compare between the two bikes (even though I got bloody food poisoning on the first night and spent most of the time sat on the shitter or had my head in the sink)
I put the camera on for a session if anyone's interested in the track : https://youtu.be/AQO8HMWX8Mk

Anyway, I have loads of time on my hands this winter, and a laptop in front of me, so I'm sure I'll be on here with a million questions

Be sure to fire some answers in too. I'm about to start asking a load as I get ready to run my first track bike next year!!! :?

Welcome mate, nice video and some quick times there.
A load of us are just back from Cartagena and had a great time.

That’s a cracking looking exhaust on the R6 Kyle.

Cheers mate. I’ve literally just flown back. Was there 3/4/5th. No fun having food poisoning, but reckon I got it from the Chinese near the NL hotel
Still, better to have the shits and not ride much in the sun than not riding at all at home in the rain 😂😂
My best lap of the trip on the ZX10r was 1:41, but I’m hoping I can nip under 1:40 on the r1 in feb as the r1 strong point is drive out of corners, and that’s a massive part of a good lap there

To be fair Rob , spark exhausts really are the dogs bollocks . And you know me I don’t appraise anything until I fully believe in it .

I've heard nothing but praise for them, and the build quality is spot on
Not cheap, but good stuff never is

A few bits and bobs added to the bike this weekend in my cold garage
Brembo Corsacorta mc
Race top yoke
Carbon tank extender
Starlane lap timer

Next jobs are l74 quick change kit
PFM clutch and thumb brake
Lithium battery
Bikesport development RHS bar switches to match the LHS
Getting some spare fairings next week too, which I’ll get painted in my colours, and the 20th anniv will become spares

Bike's nearly finished now. It went to MSS last week, who fitted a Spark Exhaust, and we've also added an L74 wheel change kit, RHS race buttons, a PFM thumb brake, AFB Yoke, Brembo Corsacorto M/C and GP4RS calipers.
It goes to Spain next Friday for it's maiden outing, so I only hope it runs as well as it looks :)

How did you get on

And I like that Chinese. About the only one I do like cause I don’t like Chinese sugar food

Yeah, it was good in Spain
I did a few 1:40-41 laps of Cartagena, and there’s a couple of seconds more I could find on it too if I pushed on a bit
Raced it for the first time last weekend at Donington, and got on the podium in the 1000Cup, which is a good start to the season

Did you sell the fairings Graeme?

I like the look of that colour scheme, I have a CFM R1 too. 👍

You going to be at Cadwell for R2?

No, i still have them in a box in the garage
Not at Cadwell as racing at Snetterton with NGRRC that weekend

What sort of price were you thinking?

I missed out on the 1000 newcomers at Cadwell, too late with the entry. Will be right in at the deep end with a couple of other lads in Endurance :o

I’d take £1000 for them

That's a wee bit too much for me Graeme, I'll have to stick with the unfinished black for a bit longer I think! Will keep it in mind though.

Good luck at Snetterton.

Sorry, haven't updated this for a while now
Bike's been running really well, and I've had some decent results on it this year so far.
Anyway, I stuck my camera on for a quick spin around Donington at a rather busy trackday last week if anyone's interested :

Here's the Dash data from the session
