Hi R1 Newbie

Post by Whited635 »

Hi all,

My names Dave & Ive been around bikes since the age of 16. Ive had a few bikes mainly Yam & Kwaks but this is my first R1.
Previously I had an R6 5eb race bike that i raced in thundersport, it suffered a cracked liner, so I swapped the engine for a 5sl version. I only mention the above because it looks like my 5jj now has the same problem, I wanted a project but not another engine rebuild.

Ive already read a number of threads and found them to be useful.

See you around

Dave

Welcome in Dave
So sorry to hear you've got the dreaded cracked liners
5pw bottom end apparently fits , i'm sure its in the threads and it turns out SEP in kegworth will redo the liners for around £150+ per cylinder , i don't know any more details on what SEP will do as it was just what i'd read on facebook .
Hope you enjoy the forum 👍
