I’ve had my 5JJ since 2006. It was pretty standard with the exception of a cut under tray, Remus Revolution exhaust and aftermarket grips. Used to ride regularly on the road and a few track days but I started seriously modifying it about 10years ago and has been garaged ever since (bad luck, poor health and a heart transplant in 2017 really affected the schedule) although I’ve had other bikes on the road and currently also have a 2013 Fireblade. As for the R1 it now has a reworked swing arm to allow for a 2010 R1 shock, full 2010 front end transplant, 2010 5 spoke wheels, Gilles adjustable rearsets, Hel braided lines, Scott’s steering damper ( GPR style), pazzo leavers, modified Arrow Carbon exhaust and a carbon front mudguard and a few alterations to the tail as the under tray was mullered anyway! Nothings been done to the motor although it went on the dyno to set up for the Arrow and still made 139 bhp at the wheel.
Carbs have just been cleaned and rebuilt so hopefully it’ll see tarmac again next spring and was wanting to do some touring again. I have a Givi tanklock system for the Fireblade and was wondering if anyone here knows which adapter ring would fit the an 01 R1? Givi’s site only list from 09 onwards.
Will post some photos when I get round to fitting the plastic (garage is in chaos atm and it’s bloody freezing)
Thanks in advance for any help,
Bruce

Re: Hi all
I was looking at Vortex v3 filler caps recently and checked for 98,09 & 17 and all use the same cap , so maybe your Givi adapter for 09 would fit the 01. Regards Colin.

Re: Hi all
That's healthy power for a 5jj. Are you running the standard headers?
I've done some decent trips on my 4xv. It has higher clipons than standard, which make all the difference. Up to about 300 miles a day is fine for me, the seat is surprisingly comfortable.
