i have used castrol gtx ( which exceeds the requirenents ) in my 5vy since new .. has done 30k miles + and no issues what so ever..

remove the screen and you will find the wiring harness & bracket .. check for damage to wires off the bracket... insulate with lots of tape.

for 30000miles and 8 years I`ve put Castrol gtx 10w-40 semi - synthetic in £13 for 4liters from ASDA.

think best way is fit the filter that the manufacturer produces, i.e kwak, kwak filter yam yam filter etc
