Hi all!
Hi all!
Ok, just got myself a 2013 R1 and found this place whilst looking for info on Flashtune.
I've ridden R1s since buying one in 1999, I've had two 99s, one that got written off at the Ring when a car driver tried to overtake entering Adenauer Forst and a second one I bought to use all the goodies stripped from the write off. After that I got an 04 which I still own and love (it's a bit of a keeper that bike..)
The Crossplane is certainly different and I'm enjoying getting used to the different way it makes power and how easily it revs, I thought it would be a torque monster not a rev monster!

Re: Hi all!
Hello John and welcome to the forum.
you have found a good place to chill chat and learn here.
What do you think of the handling of the 13, i think mine is crap and im going to get the suspension sorted asap to enable enjoyment as apposed frustration lol.
What mods are you looking at and what colour is yours.
oh yeh get some pics up if you can

Re: Hi all!
Thanks for the welcomes
I've fitted a pair of Akra cans and Y pipe and I've bought the Flashtune interface but not got it wired up to the bike yet.
I'm actually liking the handling, for the roads I ride it's comfy (and I'm an old geezer and need comfy) Pretty well controlled but gets a bit loose when encountering bigger bumps. I can see that it would need work to do well on track. I've got the 04 set up pretty well for bumpy roads, they're bad round here in the South East, so I was worried the new bike would be too stiff but no, it deals with these roads very well and is in fact better than the old bike.

Re: Hi all!
Welcome John, you habe a beautiful 14be there and Jeff (hash) will love the colour it's the same as his. Also love your mates RSV I do fancy a go on one of those, but not too sure I could give up the love affair with the R1's.
This is a good site lots of banter and someone will always be able to answer any questions yiu have. Must admit I find the OE suspension settings a tad soft.
Anyway welcome
Cilla

Re: Hi all!
Hi John, nice bike. I had an ,04 and preferred the handling to my '09. I felt the '04 was pretty good standard but need to constantly fiddle with the crossplane.
Enjoy the site.

Re: Hi all!
The 4XV was a proper magic carpet, I put a lot of love into that bike, I bought the Ohlins forks and shock from a bloke in the states who had them on his 4XV and set up by Racetech in Cali. It was amazing, I had the whole lot serviced by Harris and it never rode properly again, in the end I stripped the bike and sold all the parts off.PJC wrote:Nice set of bikes. The 14 is very different, if I end up preferring the 5VY I might look for an 08
