N00b Modder
N00b Modder
Hi Folks,
Been riding sports bikes for a few years, had a blade , k5 gixxer and a carb R1 so far finally decided to take the plunge and do extensive work on my 'new' 4c8 charcoal grey metallic.
I have never really done much in the way of modding before having either bought pre modded bikes or only done basic straightforward part swaps here and there.
I Think the 4C8 is the best R1 to be honest , it looks amazing and it has a proper wail, I liked the crossplane noise at first but it wore thin, I have a three year plan for this one. I got it cheap, immaculate and standard with just over 6k miles on it.
Coming off a well setup carb r1 onto this has been weird , low down the rc8 is currently not as good and not as much fun on the road , I need to sort the Cat/pipes, throttle/fueling asap
I expect I'll be asking alot of questions about modding , where to go who to talk to what to get and why etc.
Look forward to chatting.

Re: N00b Modder
Hi Matt and welcome to the forum, i done exactly the same, changed from a 4XV to a 4C8 and wasn't that impressed with the low down power, within a few months i fitted a PC3, decay, two brothers pipes and had it re-mapped, best thing i ever done, goes like stink now, so you could do that or quite a few guys on here had the flash tune done and are more than happy with the results

Re: N00b Modder
Hmm, still on mobile atm can't seem to upload anything... I'll have another look when I get on a computer a bit later.
Re: N00b Modder
As for the request for images , here it is , pretty much stock, came with some pazzo shorty leavers a tail tidy and an integrated tail light but that's it. The induction noise is insane so either that's a quirk of the model no one has mentioned or its got a K&N or some such... will see when I get to taking it apart.

Going to start my post in the Projects forum now.

Great model, I recommend as well as what the lads have said changing your gearbox sprocket and going -1 tooth on it, redstores the bottom end and is only £17
feckin best mod you can do, also chuck the standard steering damper in ra bin and get an ohlins on there

Re: N00b Modder
Welcome in mate, lovely looking 4c8. I can see an empty wallet coming your way, I spent a few quid on my mods.
damper is worth replacing, but 916 style sprint means you can adj on the move.
I happen to have one for sale

I also have some gutted pipes, loud is an understatement

Welcome to the forum Matt, and yiu have a beautiful looking 4c8 too. Must admit I think they are one of the nicest looking R1's out there. One point, yiu mentioned you have an integrated rear light, you will need to fit indicators to getvitvthrough an MOT, as the integrated lights are an mot failure without separate indicators.
Anyway, you have come to the right place to find everything there is to know about R1's and modding them, so any questions just ask.

Welcome Matt. Will follow your project thread with interest as a 4c8 would be my next R1.
