I've just bought a 2012 R1, and I'm so excited. I had a 2003 model and a Ducati 748 SP1.

Thanks soo much for the welcome, guys. I'll be sure to follow this forum even because I really need your help. As you know, my bike is Italian registred, and I need to change the headlight to make it UK drivable but I don't know how...well, change the headlight without changing the whole, if possible.

Don't quote me but I think the proper fix is new headlights , I wonder if you could get away with the type of stickers they used on cars in the 80's

I don't think those could work, but thanks for the idea.
I was thinking about the light deflector only. Those that give the angle to the light.
Any suggestion?

If it's coming in from Italia will it have to pass an mot first ? Being projector type lights there may be enough adjustment to get them fixed ok for Brit roads maybe worth taking to a bike shop first and seeing what they say

Assuming that yours is a 2012 model intended for sale in Italy, it should have a headlight fitted, that is the same as UK models.
Some headlights, when the dip beam is selected "dip" vertically down and these will be for use in countries who drive on both the left and right hand side of the road.
It is only headlights that are designed to "dip" towards the gutter, that have a different spec for countries that drive on the left and right.

So, it seems that I don't have to change the headlight, is it what they said?
I'm asking because my english is not that good

yes that is what they are saying , you will find out definitely when you MOT it but you could always ask the seller if the light dip vertically down

if i were you i'd message our "inside man" yamuk ans see if he can find out

Here we are with another question:
Do you know any workshop, in London, who can change, digitally, the speedo from Km in Miles?

The headlight beam on dip is symmetric, so that won't be a problem. Jompy has the answer to the km to miles question. You can change from km/h to mph by holding down the Reset button. Or it might be the other button, I don't remember.

On the early R1's if you can't select between mph & kph then it's a matter of resoldering a jumper

You need to look into this further to see if it can be done on the later clocks , i take it you've looked at the service manual to see if there is a sequence of buttons you can press before you start soldering jumpers ?
i did mine myself but it was on a 4xv i'm not sure if it can be done on the later models , all they did on the early models for some reason was to disable the option to be able to switch between kph & mph
this is what i have bearing in mind its for the early clocks


How to make a Canadian speedo (or any other)

function like an American model (mph or kph):

This is my board (jompy)
you need to look at the top right for the jumper


Details:

Open mean you don't touch anything; closed mean you have

to build a jumper between the 2 points shown.

If you want a UK specs speedo:

To be able to toggle between mph/km/h, with the odometer/trip meter reading

in miles and degrees centigrade temp:

J12-open

J13-close

If you want a USA specs speedo:

To be able to toggle between mph/kph, with the odometer/trip meter reading

in miles and degrees Fahrenheit temp:

J12-close

J13-open

If you want CANADA specs speedo:

Not able to toggle between mph/kph (reads only in kph).

odometer/trip meter only in kilometers.

degrees Celsius temp only.

J12-open

J13-open

Sorry, I got mixed up between you and another newbie and thought you had a 4xv! The clocks on the 4xv are different to the later models so as Jompy says, it may not be possible to change your clocks to miles.

I'd suggest searching as someone else has probably wanted to do the same thing.

Hi Guys, I've been way for awhile...ITALY!
Anyway. I've sorted it out, well Scorpio in Norfolk sorted it. They swapped the odometer from Kms to Mls without cancel any of my old dates.
GREAT and WELL DONE...
All the operation did cost me 135 pounds. Sending the ODO there, do the job and re-send it back.
