New R1 owner

Post by Cursed »

Morning people,

After having owned my Suzuki GSXR 600 K6 for the last 5 years I thought it was about time for a change.

I got back from a week in the isle of man last weekend, spent the last week looking at various options and yesterday I chopped in the GSXR for a 2010 R1

Unfortunately I couldn't take it away there and then so i'm collecting it Friday, Mon - Thu is going to drag!

Dean.

Welcome to the forum Dean and congratulations on your purchase of a 2010 sausage. ..... Let me explain,

Cross plane R1's have Big Bang engines , Big Bang = banger = sausage..... Yeah we have a strange sense of humour on here

Yep we are as mad as a barrel load of frogs, not the French kind  this is despite what some people thing a very friendly forum, no clicks , quite a few dicks though, the guys are very knowledgable and helpful.

As Sam says the next few days will drag, but just think, you will sone have your new R1 and boy it really will put a smile on your face. Do you have any pics of it, or your old bike, we don't mind GSXRs on here, well we like all bikes really :)

Anyway welcome

Stephen

Well you just missed a forum get together at cadwell last month :naughty:
CRF250L wouldn't mind one of those as a second bike for the wife then i could get my CRM250 back on the road & we could do some green laning together !
a few of the lads have supermoto's or dirt bikes . . . . .
you'd best get some pic's of the CRF up before i ask the admin to ban you

cracking pic's , how you finding it off road , there was talk of it being under powered but i think it'd be fine for greenlaning

It is a little under-powered but for most green laning it's fine, benefits from an after market exhaust and a slight gearing chane. Only issue I really come across is the comparative lack of ground clearance and its a bit heavy when you compare it to the full blown CRF250X or a KTM etc..

From talking to Pinnit at Cadwell, as far as I could make out, I think he comes from Kazakhstan, unfortunately I don't speak Kazakhstani so we mostly nodded and drank beer.

Thing is, i've got the Drive from Essex to Yorkshire.. Pick up the R1 and a Yam of a completely different kind that my dads bought (XVS1300A Midnight Star), then Yorkshire back to Essex.

Hope the weather's alright and im not completely shattered to go for a little ride in the evening!
