Newbie to an R1 and Newbie on the site!

Post by AliG »

Hi everyone,

I joined the site a few days ago in anticipation of a bike order, and this afternoon I got the thumbs up.....a 2016 R1M is all mine :)
I am proper happy to be getting one, it will be my first super bike, and what a bike!

I've been riding for 13 years, starting off on a GSX-R 600 K2.
The R1 won't be my first Yamaha, I once had a WR250F (09) for a season to use off road, before the big end bearing seized doing 70 on a dual carriageway and I had to rebuild the whole engine! That bike also broke me a few months before on a motocross track...first and last time!!

From there I bought a Daytona 675R (13) for sunny Sundays and track days to live alongside my Triumph Sprint ST (07) commuter and wife-lugger. Unfortunately both of them have to go to make way for the R1M, but I don't mind so much now that I know I'll be getting my hands on my new bike in a few months....just enough time to start saving for some accessories ;)

Hopefully I can meet some more R1M owners here, maybe have a ride out and catch up at the YRE event next year. Which one to choose though?!

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Alan and congratulations on your allocation of an R1M, a few of us were unlucky last year, but we dropped lucky, like you this year. :D

Anyway welcome to the mad house, I hope you have a sense of humour as you will need it. This is a great forum, no clicks loads of banter and advice.

So welcome and congratulations

Stephen

Thanks Steve,
Sounds like you got one for yourself too, congrats. I've read over the R1M thread and got some good info from that, it will be interesting to see how many make it over to the UK this year. I'm just looking forward to getting it on the road! :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
I was trying to send a PM to Bub today so that he can add me to the map, but apparently I am too New?!
How many posts do I need to do before I can participate fully?
I noticed that I can't add a "for sale" until 20 posts are reached - it seems a lot...I have 2 bikes to sell to fund my R1M habit

Hi Ray,

just had a look at your pics, its a very nice paint scheme!
Where did you get it done?
I am looking for trackway fairings and I fancy a race rep paint job when I do

Cheers
