Hi all
Hi all
Hi all my names Sam and I've signed up so I can get inspiration and advice on my looooooooooong term project.
I've always been a yam man, started with a R6 before I got my full licence then it got pinched, then my first R1 a 5PW(is the long term project) which I had a massive non fault accident in 2005 which wrote off the machine and then the most beautiful 5JJ, but as is my luck then had another off which was due to a seriously bad lapse of concentration somewhere around 2007 which although not recorded and technically not officially but definitely wrote off that bike too.
I'll post pics when I can but am struggling with my phone and am stuck at work for a while.
Since then I had brief ownership of an old zzr-6 but wasn't a fan and have been four wheel slumming it ever since

Re: Hi all
Welcome to the forum Sam, we love projects on here so start your own thread in the projects section. Sorry to hear if your offs, but it was a long time ago and hopefully it was only your pride that was hurt, bikes can be repaired, we humans are a tad more difficult.
Anyway you have come to the right place for input, this is a great forum, in fact the best by a country mile. The guys are very knowledgable and helpful so any questions ask away.
Looking forward to seeing the pics of your bike..... We love pics on here
Anyway welcome
Stephen

Re: Hi all
Thanks for the welcome Steve, unfortunately I did take quite a beating in both accidents, the first was skin and muscle grafts and the second ALOT of bruising and rash but if the first didn't scare me out of bikes nothing will, I have plenty of pictures of mangled metal and flesh haha

Hi guys
i hale from sunny slough im afraid haha
here are some pics of the bikes

2003 ltd edition R6 bought from new (the start of a teen and finance/hp lol) No1649 of 2000, clear db, single seat cover, tinycators, tiny plate and graves titanium can, i had a sunday job at george whites in slough/oxford so i spent most sundays cleaning it in the showroom
As it turns out i seem to have lost the one and only picture i had of the 5pw, but it was red with black side panels and white bellypan std when i bought it all i did was a lazer ti end can

and then my favorite of all, again std when i got her and i just smoothed out the edges

ill start spreading more pics in the relevant sections over the weekend

Welcome in Sam
FFS please don't buy another decent yam , it's not fair to the brand
Glad your OK , Markypvs has done a lot of work to his 5pw , take a look at it in the projects section under "Triggers broom" , he's helpful too

Re: Hi all
Sorry I've been slack with the uploads guys, but I've been putting alot of thought into it and if all goes to plan and the 5jj frame is repairable I'm going to break the 5pw and will need some advice on what stuff is worth etc and hopefully there will be some interest for bits on here.

Re: Hi all
un-fucking-lucky bud
so whats the next step ? i know your on about parting out the 5pw but will you get another R1 ? i'm sure 4xv & 5jj frames come up quite often , would it not be worth rebuilding the 5jj if you can't get a 5pw frame ?

Re: Hi all
That's definitely the plan moving forward, if I can sell the 5pw engine and tank I should be able to pick up a frame in good condition got a few other bits that may be of interest but will see.
The 5pw was sentimental because was my first R1 but in reality it's the 5jj I fell in love with when my mate had one when I was 16 and IMHO it's the best looking R1 by far
