Re: Newbie
Welcome in David
Sounds fine to me , the clutch rattle is normal with the early R1's , usually if you pull the clutch in it should quieten down a bit
" Those 4xv's are a lovely bike , they share a lot of parts with the 5jj like frame, wheels & engines are similar , things that are different are ECU , bodywork i.e. tank , fairing , seat unit & headlight also the radiator & wiring looms are different .
Make sure you look in the 4xv & 5jj sections .
Check the main 20pin white plug on the wiring loom that sits behind the left hand fairing to make sure its in good order & been greased as these can cause problems , the HT leads can break up when old where the plug cap screws on & cause misfire all you need to do is cut 5-10 mm off the end & screw the cap back on , also DON'T tighten the sump bolt up to 42nm its a lot less more like 15-20nm .
get the service manuals and parts micro fiches for both the 4xv & 5jj downloaded , use the online PDF link & down load the parts manuals from there .
http://www.partzilla.com can be helpful for online parts micro fiches for getting part numbers & checking prices in the states as theyre prices are cheaper or you could try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/browser/ ... bike/yzfr1
enjoy

As others have said, sounds quite normal to me. Syncing the carbs can help, as does a louder exhaust!

Welcome to the forum David, cracking opening post, we do love pics in here but yiu went one stage further and posted a video
I think that's a first..... Nice one
This is a great forum, you get out what you put in, by that I mean we help each other, someone needs parts, simeine may well have what they need in their garage or shed, ask a question, someone will have the answer. We have a good sense if humour on here, a good laugh and the admin boys let the forum police itself which actually makes this one hell of a forum .
Anyway welcome and enjoy your new toy anf the forum
Stephen

Re: Newbie
Yeah, you seem like a good bunch, been on bike banter for years over at Pistonheads, they have the craic over there too.. there are a few bumps and dings and I have an twin light fairing that needs painting. Will get those carbs tuned up next week.
