Macclesfield Newboy
Macclesfield Newboy
Hi
My names Nick
I live in Macclesfield Cheshire.
I have a 5jj track road bike.
I bought it to sell, but I like it too much, so I'm going to keep it.
It's a bit rough round the edged and needs tyres, but I'm looking forwards to getting out on it.
Cheers
Nick

Re: Macclesfield Newboy
Well, I'm 47 but I've been riding bikes since I was 17, so 30 years.
All the usual stuff, started with a TS50ER, 125 and 350LC's, TZR's, RGV's etc.
At the minute I am buying and selling a few bikes as a bit of hobby.
I have a ZX10R, Aprilia Falco, FZR600 and the R1.
The ZX10r is damaged, the Falco is dull and the FZR I've owned for about 12 years.
I bought the R1 as a cat c stolen recovered for £800.
It needs tyres and a once over, I have sorted the damaged wiring caused by the attempted theft.
It needs painting and using.
I do a couple of track days a year depending on money, but I am not very fast.
I just like pissing about with bikes and having them around.
I'm an electrician by trade, bores the crap out of me.
Married, no kids, two dogs.
How do I do pictures?
Cheers for the welcome

Re: Macclesfield Newboy
Cheers for the update buddy & nice history , looks like your 5jj will be one for the projects section
heres a few tips
" Those 5jj's are a lovely bike , they share a lot of parts with the 4xv like frame, wheels & engines are similar , things that are different are ECU , bodywork i.e. tank , fairing , seat unit & headlight also the radiator & wiring looms are different .
Make sure you look in the 4xv & 5jj sections .
Check the main 20pin white plug on the wiring loom that sits behind the left hand fairing to make sure its in good order & been greased as these can cause problems , the HT leads can break up when old where the plug cap screws on & cause misfire all you need to do is cut 5-10 mm off the end & screw the cap back on , also DON'T tighten the sump bolt up to 42nm its a lot less more like 15-20nm .
get the service manuals and parts micro fiches for both the 4xv & 5jj downloaded , use the online PDF link & down load the parts manuals from there .
http://www.partzilla.com can be helpful for online parts micro fiches for getting part numbers & checking prices in the states as theyre prices are cheaper or you could try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/browser/ ... bike/yzfr1
enjoy
"
and the different options for posting pics
"get yourself a free photobucket account & follow the idiots guide to posting pics from your pc
posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=10659
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/
1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.
or you can post direct from your not so smart phone using tapawank (tapatalk) it's great for posting pic's & notifications but wank for viewing the forum

Welcome to the forum Nick, I'm not too far from you, Warrington, love the roads around your neck if the woods, had a nice Poole to Matlock bath the other day then got a puncture on me way home just outside Chelford
Anyway welcome to a fantastic firum, and at the end of the day it's not about how fast you are, there will always be someone faster and someone slower than you, but for me it's all about the fun and freedom riding gives you
Cracking pictures btw
Welcome
Stephen

Re: Macclesfield Newboy
At the minute my plan is to get some decent tyres and ride it.
It needs a once over, but I can mess with it over time.
I don't like the indicators and it's a daytime MOT kind of bike.
It has been hacked up at the back a bit.
Runs okay though.
It will be good on the track I guess.
