New to the forum
Hi my name is Chris i'm from Huddersfield West Yorkshire, i currently run a small race team of 2 riders in the Thundersport Golden Era class, our current race bike is not a Yamaha but i have just purchased a tidy 2000 5JJ track bike to start the building process from. Our intention is to run the bike in the newly created GP1 classic next year.
Once ive worked out how to load up photographs I will post pictures of out current bike 2006 Honda SP2 and the newly acquired R1. Im joining the group in the hope that there is a wealth of knowledge out there with R1's that can help with questions and guide us in the right direction when it come to engine tuning upgrade's etc.
Look forward to some good banter and help over the coming months/years.Chris.

Welcome in Chris
I think you've found the right place
There's a lot been discussed about the early R1's , the first 3 models 4xv , 5jj & 5pw were very similar and many parts especially between the 4xv & 5jj are interchangeable . The 5pw had a different head with different size inlets for the "fuel injection" but the bottom end is round about the same as the 5jj .
As for pics i use tinypic.com , very simple to use just use the link with the

Re: New to the forum
Hi yes we know Richie Harrison well, we have raced against him in a couple of classes (I say we, I mean my son Ryan) he is running a 5eb this year and doing quite well, he was leading the championship until the last round at Mallory but had a massive high side in the first race and a long journey home in an ambulance. We hope he gets well soon and hope to see him soon at Rockingham Raceway on the 29th and 30th.PJC wrote:Welcome in Chris, chances are you will Know the Likes of Richie Harrison and Chris Withey (radiobloke) and many others ive raced with.
