How to do it?

Just looked up the history, 3 years since they were fitted, might look worse on the middle due to being on a dusty surface, don't know how many miles they've done but it'll be around 3k max
New pair of boots needed then, will make all the difference. I almost sold my original R1 due to awful handling on its original Dunlops, stuck a new pair or Michelins on and transformed the bike!

I dont know anyone who uses Avon I get offered them at my local Tyre gaff and they are cheep but I think the premium brands will adorn my R1 for now nit saying they aint good mind
From what i've read the most common tyre is the michelin pilot power 2ct, I and others on the pirelli corsa, a few on here using the dunlop sportsmart to name a few over the range of R1's not sure about 4xv specifically
I've personally always stuck with the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT, since changing over from Dunlops - which handled like poo! I find the Michelins to be nice and sticky, and tip in pretty quickly. I've not tried the newer Pilot Pure, but not heard as good reports. I think it's just a case of finding what works best for your riding style really
On mine(track only) i have used Dragon Supercorsa`s(unavailable now)they were great ,now im running a Diablo supercorsa front(SC01) and a Michelin Power race on the rear(Medium),only rode it round Oulton with this combo on one cold Febuary day,but they felt fine,cant wait to get some real heat into them and try them out with a bit of passion

Why would you put a 180 section tyre on to a 6J rim? You'll be stretching the tyre wider than it naturally wants to go, and surely make the bike tip in slower? Pirelli Supercorsas are brilliant track day tyres mind, I stuck a pair on a Gixa 600 track bike last year and had loads of fun on it! Very soft though, so wear out quickly...and not the most sensible tyre to have in the wet, with the fact only 2/3 of the tyre has tread? :-S lol
Looking at it,compared to the 190/50 on my 5PW it has steeper profile,giving a quicker turn in,and more surface area while banked over ,but then i do run them a fair bit lower psi than my road tyres

Welcome in Chris , you'll love the 4xv but you defiantly need to get rid of those pures , cheep & good are pilot power's but if you read through the forum everyone's got they're own fav tyre & theres alot of chice

Thanks Jompy, it does seem that way, much easier on the nc30 due to the limited choice with the 18" rear.
Found the pilot powers for £150 a set without fitting, same as the Avons, come payday I'll make the decision
i'm on my second pilot power rear & i'm getting on just dandy with them , had S20's on before that , you see them on m&p's by any chance ?
got my new rear for £88 delivered

It was actually bct if I remember right, offering pretty much the same deal. Think these might be the choice now or the 2ct powers. As its purely a toy for sunny days don't know if its worth the extra cash over the normal powers

Depends how much grip you want round the bends mate, stating the obvious but '2CT' stands for 2 compound technology, which basically gives you softer compound on the edges of the tyre and slightly harder in the centre...ideal for someone who wants to take bends a bit quick but not kill the centre after 5 hard accelerating straights! Lotsa fun

Fair enough, assumed the normal one was soft all the way round and the 2ct just had the medium compound in the middle for longer life if straight lining it.
In all honesty I'm not a quick rider, I would like to improve though

not far off , yes a 2ct has softer sides (shoulders) but has standard in the middle so unless your giving it the berries crancked over in bends the you may as well go with the cheeper pilot power but if you do have it "on the edge" alot then the 2ct's , to be fair it's all about confidence , i guess i'm your average rider & love to have a play from time to time but i didn't notice much if any between the S20 hypersport's tyre & the pilot power , the pilot power has plenty of grip for me but then that's me & everyone's different . There's some bloody good tyre's out there these days but for me there's £100's difference in price but i don't find £100's worth of extra grip .
tbh i'd like to hear everyone's view's on this because i believe we're all different

This was my thinking, I'm far from being able to use the tyres to there full potential so would pilot powers be ok till I got more confident on it. Like the 51 degree lean angles they mention, that's not going to happen
