2006 R6Owner From Glasgow
Hi Guys
My name is John, am in Glasgow, I bought a 2006 R6 in May last year after passing my test, (at 45 years of age, mid life crisis etc etc). Not an ideal first bike I know but with the weather being favourable from May onwards I have over 5000 miles under my belt and love the bike to bits, awsome machine. I wasnt looking for a bike to commute with only for fun or a blast after a hard day at the office.
A wee pic of the bike....

Cheers for that, it is a belter of a bike, I seen it when I was booking mod2 and didnt tempt fate by buying before I had passed test, but only 1 owner with just over 6k miles on it with a full history, so I was happy as when it was still for sale a week after seeing it....

Cheers for the welcomes guys, Petroladdict that looks a belter, I sat on a few bikes, am 6 feet 2 tall, and I found the R6 the best position sitting on the bike, but the plan is to progress to a litre bike at some point after saying I wouldnt, but thats in the future.

Really nice bike mate , I too have an R6 in black, don't believe what the journos say, crap on the road but a hoot on track, they are half right, the bike is fantastic on track, but can run out if puff on the straights, but it's also a real hoot on the road, it's so light and flickable. Blue or red n white are the perfect colours.

I'm so short I had to have the R6 loweredPJC wrote:Welcome in m8, crackin wee bike, wish i was shorter as love that R6

Cheers m8, as for the journos I read a lot of the stuff like most people but prefer to draw my own conclusions, generally if I want it I will try my best to get it, thats what I done when buying the bike, I wanted an R6 and thats what I done,
My riding skills are at an early level but every day is a school day. I hope to get some track experience with tuition but thats in the future.

Re: 2006 R6Owner From Glasgow
You can't beat time in the saddle, and even for old hands, every day is a learning day. The great thing about bikes is you never stop learning, the more you learn, the better you get, the more you enjoy riding. Like you I also commute, I can have a really crap day at the office, but get me leathers and lid on and that all disappears, by the time I get home 36 miles later I am chilled, my wife hates it if I take the car because I am generally in a bad mood when I arrive home.
I have been known on several occasions to do a detour I the way to work or way home, Warrington to Buxton, via the famous cat and fiddle to Preston.
You did the right thing getting your R6 as your first bike, if you had gone for a naked or something else you would have had to re learn to ride a sports bike, plus your body will get used to the low bars bum up high pegs feet back riding position, I hate it when my dealer lends me a diversion or something when the bike goes for a service as I am aching like hell when I get to work, pick the bike up in the evening and it fits like a glove.
Enjoy your R6 you have a really great bike.

Re: 2006 R6Owner From Glasgow
Cheers for that Steve, I done my lessons and test on a Diversion, was actually thinking about an older bike for the winter to keep my eye in but I think her indoors wouldnt be too pleased.
As for time on the bike I was like a man possessed, weather from May was great here so every chance I had I was out on the road, canny beat it we have some great places to visit up here, just a pity the weathers crap now, the bike is winking at me every time I go in the garage lol.
