Hi from Essex.

Post by Siamblue »

Hi people,Just bought myself another R1 after having 12 years off,6years off that was with a broken hip following a high side.
Just got myself a tuned 55 plate 5VY in Blue, the thing is crazily rapid.

Anyway hope to see you guys around, regards Gary.

Couple of pics of my old ride in OW01 Haga colours.

Hi thanks for all the welcomes,i am in Cowboy and Indian territory, but i am the only cowboy amongst 1000s of Indians,my local is owned by Indians mad lot all Arsenal supporters thought they would be West Ham being in Ilford..

Yes the bike i have utmost respect for,my old one i used to wring its neck but this one is totally different to my old 4XV. it has dyno sheets for 180bhp/165whp the previous 2 owners spent loads on her,my gain i suppose,i am off too the South Coast tomorrow to see my sister so will have a nice blast along the roads..

regards Gary.

PS haven't got any pics yet until i get that horrible bagster thing off of the tank..

HI guys, managed to get the bagster off, lack of colour underneath it on the tank, not sure if i like it as it has a carbon cover,i was expecting a nice Blue tank and a Yam badge lol.

Managed to take some pics but where the bike is parked i couldn't really get a good enough pic of her..but did take some..

Does anyone have a link for the power commander set up?as i noticed mine has 3 buttons on it and not sure what to set it too..

Not sure why but my pics arn't showing when i add them,so have added a link to them or just click the first link to my Dropbox gallery.
Well i started bikes back in 82 when i was 16,bought a FS1E Yam,not the sports one but the chopper styled version lol,had that a month as soon as i turned 17 bought a RSX100 Yam and used that until i got knocked off of it at a junction and broke my first bone my ankle, waited for the settlement through the insurance and with that went out and bought my first ever and only Honda an MBX 125 on a B plate which was 85, had that approx 2 months because i hated the lack of power and couldn't mod it, px'ed it against an RD125 LC 86 C plate in Dream Machine Marlboro colours, tuned it up and managed to get 100 mph out of it on the clocks downhill.eventually i succumbed to inexperience and the weather and planted the bike into a concrete lamp post going around a bend with leaves on the road backend went so i sat up and carried on straight, ended up with a shattered humorus even though it wasn't funny at the time,so i spent six months out of the bike scene then saw a 350 YPVS for sale cheap,it was an old production racer and was in quite bad shape, this was to be my first custom bike that i attempted,i spent nearly £1200 on it just in parts alone, with doing all the work in the garage with my late father, off the top of my head,it had Stan Stephens stage 3 tune, twin 34mm carbs, boysen reeds,Lomas pipes,Metmachex braced swinging arm and a White power shock and steering damper,i spent so much money on the bike i couldn't afford a paint job so rattle canned it lol.the bike was really quick through the gears, then i saw in the MCN one of the last RG500 Suzuki for sale in a bike shop in Brentwood,it was on a F plate 89 in Red and Black i paid £3500 for it brand new, wish i kept that bike it would be worth a fortune nowadays i guess..kept the bike a year and sold it to get my first ever car, went back into bikes in 1999 bought an old EXUP 1000,then wanted something more sporty so bought the HAGA rep R1,i even bought the number plate R1 11AGA for it at the time.but never got around to fitting it as i hight sided it coming out of a roundabout and breaking my hip, took 6 years to fully recover from that, that's one bone i didn't want to break..so as you can see was always a stroker fan and most of the times a Yam fan.hence why i wanted another R1 and didn't look for any other bikes.

Thank you sir,the bike isn't down to me,but the previous 3 owners, they spent 3k in modifications, lots of carbon on her but the bit i don't like is he is totally debadged,
The linkage is fine, but i have just bought a quickshift for her,now i have to find out if the push type QS will work with my Harris rear sets otherwise i will go GP shift with it.
To be totally honest i used to rag my old 99 R1 around, but this machine really does scare me,the power is brutal..can't wait to get her up the 1/4mile to see what she does.
