Re: New member just saying hello 5pw in Teesside
pic of when i bought the bike in mid 2012 , 3 days after getting my licence

excuse the bird sh!t lol it was taken whist haggling with the owner
anyway since then shes undergone a few mods , engine has been swapped after a bottom end rattle , took it as an excuse to freshen her up , oil refresh in forks , 5vy wheel conversion, pads , wavy discs, c&s, grips, some carbon, new tyres, decals, levers , tail tidy ,indicators ,seat cowl ect ohh and paint

got a few more mods in the pipeline
racefit growler - bought
pcb 3 - bought
radial front end
more carbon
braided lines
velocity stacks
junk the ais ect
upgrade the suspension
some dyno time ect ect
ohh and a cheeky one of me , taken by a mate entering a local car show , can see why I got the nickname , and I faced reality and shaved the head lol

Nice one Ginger, same bike and hair colour as our own Jon, but he likes to call his strawberry blonde
Oh we have another member who is looking to have an R1 as a first bike, most on here are concerned for his safety, would be nice to hear your story in his thread. Good and bad

I was quoted 400 odd for galfers ....for the front alone
These doing well , I oped for a road compound pad rather than full sintered or race jobbies so maybe they standing up to the heat better
There "kagazumi" I think , I'm positive there a firm based in uk buying them in bulk and selling them as track tested wavy discs for about £40 over the rrp
Only here till I go radial and 320mm setup

Welcome mate, bike looking good.
As Pete says, mike is considering an R1 for his first bike so your views will be of interest to him

Re: new member in teesside - pics now added
Think I paid about £290 for front disks & pads & £90 for rear & pads , like you say if your going to be changing to 320mm there's no point in spending loads , reason I got galfer was because I got an advisory for my rear disk & the fronts juddered like a fucker , mate who's a good mechanic & bike recovery driver said get galfers &Mrs was in the bike trade & said if you must have waveys go for galfers & then got me £200 of the price , would have been rude not tooBeefy5pw wrote:I was quoted 400 odd for galfers ....for the front alone

I had a set of Kagazumi disks for my TDM a few years ago, seemed alright to me, no different from the originals that they replaced, had them on for about a year used in all weathers.Beefy5pw wrote:I was quoted 400 odd for galfers ....for the front alone

I paid I think £180 for 2 fronts and a rear , not wavys though.
Dont think they are chinese either.

Re: new member in teesside - pics now added
Nice bike Beefy, my old 5pw had the ais removed, exup removed and velocity stacks, she made 143rwhp on HMD Tunings dyno and was smoother than a smooth thing running a shorty scorpion can an aw , here is a pic, loved that bike, main difference was done by the velocity stacks, gave an extra 7bhp right through from 3k too 8k revs so beefed up the mid range a lot, top mod that

Nope standard headers with the exup removed, leave the motor in place and you wont get an error code or you can get an exup eliminator just make up a blanking plate were the exup was, use the old cover as a template, its a piece off cake for an engineering firm or make it yourself, I used Graves blanking plates too get rid off the ais system,Beefy5pw wrote:Donny did you replace the headers ?
