lifelong biker decides to shorten it by buying R1

Post by oldfart »

Hi all
I am Jack from Sunbury in Middlesex. just taken ownership of a 1998 4XV with a nice V and M paintjob will chuck up a pic or two soon. 20k on the clocks had been stored for 4 years so rebuilt carbs, drained vital fluids and flushed tank. got insured, went out :auto-biker: , shat myself :o , laughed like a drain :-D , came back, took tranquilisers :angry-chillpill: and now been doing the same for the past week (650 miles aready :-D
Loving the immediate, aggressive acceleration :angry-screaming: , finding the bike a pleasure to work on  , like the insurance (£220 fully comp with MCE) , best bike I have ever ridden by far. my bike history below... looking forward to chewing the fat with you all :-D :-D :-D :-D

1987-88 AR 80, (badged as a 50 oopsie) skimmed out so much cylinders were transparent...
1988-90 Sickzuki GS125 - like riding a yule log, bomb proof because it never went above 50 mph down hill with a team of dwarfs pulling it!!
1990-92 FZR 750, now we are talking, fast, flick able, learnt every nut and bolt licence lost twice on it in two years for speeding once because judge did not agree that whilst my licence was valid it was the wrong colour and once because on getting full licence I decide that also gave me the go ahead to legally ride like a total tool (I was very young)
1994 - 2000 Honda Fireblade Urban Tiger- nuff said I grew Velcro on my balls with this bike, nearly killed me twice, once when it fell on me in the garage and once when for no reason it made me try and ride the length of the Cat and Fiddle, A537 Buxton to Macclesfield road at warp factor 13, this is when I learnt that bikes are usually faster than I am... 8 weeks in traction in Royal Surrey County Hospital, in bits literally mainly because trying to masturbate in a mixed ward in traction is not particularly easy.... :violin:
2003-2005 a mixture of Bandits choppers and boring old sh!te to try and calm me down.... BOOOORING YAWN :naughty:
look below I even look depressed
Image
2005 -2007 FZR 750 resto project, fell in love again with Yams, note the picture below is of another I briefly owned in 2013 which was a bloody shed when I bought it... still have a weak spot for restoring FZRs now...
Image
2007 -2008 2001 Fireblade again... this time I managed to not turn it or me into scrap, however it felt in the words of the hawkwind song silver machine "antiseptically clean" BLOODY FAST but boring and well a bit whiffy TBH a bit of a :animals-pig: in the looks department but held value well and built like a spinsters knickers!!!
Image
2008 - 2012 more boring farty stuff and yes even a Virago!!!! OMG
Image
2012 Sicksuki RF900, I liked this... a bit lardy and a back end that looked like the starship enterprise after it had been written off hitting an asteroid, big solid 5 geared straight line comfy rocket... took corners like gazza takes giving up the booze...
Image
2013 z1000d hardtail chopper, THE MOST LETHAL BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED!!! 130 MPH on a hard tail with bin lids for brakes and forks that you needed a telescope to look down. thought I looked very cool. had piles for weeks after each ride... :angry-screaming: TERRIFIED OF IT till I blew the engine to pieces 2 miles from my house... nearly had a coronary pushing it home
Image
present till I probably crash through the pearly gates backwards in a flaming ball of hot metal and bone splinters... THE WONDERFUL R1.... photos below cheers all speak soon

Riding an R1 is a little like poking a hibernating bear up the arse with a stick, when you doing it, its great fun but when you get caught out it will f**k you up!

I know what it is like to physically challenged, I am not riding the R1 I am more kind of putting it on and wearing it like a belly strap... I had to cut a huge scoop out of the tank to be able to squeeze my Guinness baby in it...

Hello Jack and welcome to the forum , nice write up on your history lol, For the 2 non sport choppers we will accept 10 hail yamahas and 6 laps of donny to absolve you of your sins

The v&m looks real nice apart from the underseat exhaust  . The power is great on the old r1s and after what you have had in the past must have taken the wind from your sails on the maiden run.

Stay safe on her and most of all respect that throttle as will will bite hard very quick
