No, but it depends on the forum. I've been a member here for 3 months and not seen a thread like this before.

Some forums just don't tolerate behaviour like this and would lock the thread and suspend people if it continued.

But most forums are fine. My test is to see if newbies are told to search when they ask questions. If I see that, then I don't join!

Pmsl the " told to search " thing has happened a few times but the search engine on here isn't worth a sank lol

tomhubbard wrote:Nothing was said about them on the 3 I've done there but then it seems different every time. For instance the first company just checked if my leathers were zipped together. MSV almost didn't let me on because of a 5" gap at the front where the zip didn't meet. I wasn't going to take that chance again so paid £120 for a new zip to be fitted with a 2" gap at the front.
3rd trackday they didn't even check! I'll never intentionally do something to jeopardise my time on the track, they're just the sliders I've got.
Tom,im doing Oulton Park tomorrow with a couple off here, its being ran by MSV(They own Oulton Park and Brands too, aswell as others),i have checked all the online Blurb on their website over the last couple of days and it does state
"Equipment requirements
All riders must be wearaing either one-piece leathers or two piece leathers that zip together ALL the way round. Textile suits are not permitted and neither are sparky sliders. ACU gold stamped full face motorcycle helmet, proper leather motorcycle boots above the ankle and leather motorcycle gloves beyond the wrist must be worn. We strongly recommend using a back protector."

from this website
http://www.msvtrackdays.com/Bike/i-have ... k-day.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So it looks like youve been lucky not to have been pulled up for the sliders mate,be worth getting some others before they cost you a session or two

This is a great forum, I like Hash and many others have met a good few on here, I speak to at least 20 members on a regular basis. Yep I is a slag

I think this is the second Newbie thread where things got a bit heated,I believe diablo took exception to my and others comments, its fair enough to have a healthy debate and as a group we try very hard to educate and not exclude. I must applaud Jon for his post, its good to allow healthy discussions and correct asking all parties to consider the language used.

I learn lots on here bike and life related, I have learned not to take offence and try to understand other peoples point of view, I appreciate the written word can be interpreted in every way but the one it was meant to be taken.
I will call people out if what they write is total rubbish and expect the same back
Scrappy and his dad have taught me Road riding skills with their IAM method
I give my time to those who want it, I really appreciate that opportunity and I only hope I can continue to do so.
Due to this forum, I was able to rebuild my bike and received so many phone calls and texts to help with my mental state

This is more than a bike forum, its a people forum who ride bikes, all who play here are equal no matter if you have been here from day one or just joined, bit like life really everyone is my equal we know more or less on certain subjects.

If anyone tries to destroy that don't be shocked if we defend it, I for one hope you and anyone who choose to be part of it will take the same point of view

 I need a rest now ;)

Yes Tom happy to start again, you did make me laugh though and for the record you look good on the bike, you will go faster by adopting some of my and other members points and that will make your track days safer and more enjoyable

Gosh, it's all been going on between my anniversary, birthday and retirement .... How on earth did I miss this thread. Funnily enough, colon has missed it too and we are the most likely peeps to hijack a thread.

I'm impressed with diplomatic jeff  and pete

The thing is Tom, we are like a family on here we generally get on really well, we help each other out and provide advice and support in times of need.

We have some very good riders in here and others like me and pod and then there are people like yiu who are new to riding. The forum holds a wealth of experiance, and we all do help each other out. Pod is a first class road rider and can teach jeff, who races, a thing or two about backing it off in the road.

Earlier in the year jeff and Pete, aka hash and PJC came to donington and spent ghe day with a lot of forum members in the novice group. They spent their hard earned cash to help us, and fjr that I will always be in their debt. They have the skill to pick up what yiu are doing wrong, PJC helped me improve my cornering both on track and on the road. After we left Donny pete kept in touch, I explained a particular corner that I have trouble with every day on the commute to work. I talked pete through it and even without seeing the corner he told me what I was doing wrong. His advice was to turn in later, my problem is I was turning too early. It was really difficult to change what I had been doing for years, but when I did as Pete said, the corner was no longer a problem, he with his skill improved my riding when he hadn't actually seen me ride that corner.

As I said hash is a wealth of knowledge, as is Luke and simon. I know simon is a new member, but he is new to yamaha, a lot of us know him through track days and Luke. Simon is a very fast fast group rider who is being tutored by spike edwards no less. Luke is also a fast track day rider and he can leave a lot of us on here for dead on track. luke gave me some tyre advice which was also very helpful.

No individual knows everything, but bring a lot if like minded people together from different walks of life on a forum like this and yiu get a synergies , the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the individual elements.

We are all bikers, we share a passion for bikes, like all familes we sometimes, me included throw our dummies out, or loose our rag , but we get on and help.

We don't wat new riders to make the mistakes we made, just like we don't want our kids to make the mistakes we did.

Simples as the mere cats would say :P

Cilla

Well got it finished today. Had more trouble with a choke sticking on no.4 pot but now that's sorted this new lump pulls like a train! It's off to the lawnmower man for a setup and rolling road and maybe one more track day before this weather really sets in
