Re: first bikes - why not an R1
You did better than me, the R6 I bought instead of an R1 lasted me 2 months before I chopped it in. I got a higher PX value than I paid for it though by £150 so only had to pay £400 extra for the bike I wanted all along. Time will tell if I can be sensible or not. But who cares, people have been shooting RPGs and UGLs at me for the last 7 months. The R1 will be a walk in the park after this. Home next month to test the R1 for the first time.

if the oil pressure release valve sticks then it could well do lol, ive had an early r1 do it twice, burst the oil filter like a grenade loljompy wrote:yeah but lets hope the R1 doesn't airburst like an RPG lolhash29 wrote:lol the r1 will travel as fast as an rpgpingping010101 wrote:You did better than me, the R6 I bought instead of an R1 lasted me 2 months before I chopped it in. No mate it was still there , was the first thing I checked after the oil level both were sound , it was like it had pressurized the way the steam was coming out

Re: first bikes - why not an R1
Old thread but +1 yrs and I finally got a new R1. Miss the fz1 alright! The noise it made was awesome!
Still breaking in the new bike, but it's throw you off the back fast. What an engine! Glad I finally got one! One thing I'll say is the steering is very sharp and it feels 50kgs lighter than the fz. Noise is crap by comparison but the fz was 102dbs@6krpm so I know stock don't sound that nice...

Re: first bikes - why not an R1
Nice one buddy , like Jeff says get some pics up & this time don't be a bloody stranger

Re: first bikes - why not an R1
Bog standard red r1. Big jump to it but in fairness to the view it feels like an r6 and keepin revs down means it would be ok in low power mode but 1st time round knowing what I know now
would make sense an r6 as a 1st time bike would help a rider out more. Of course if you get a big new bike then the 2015 r1 is a good choice if you were dead set on a 1st time litre supersport.
The power of hindsight I guess....
Fek knows how I get a picke on here but imagine a brand new one then add nearly 400 miles and all weather conditions without so much as oiling the chain and you'll get the idea
