Yes, headset/earplugs ok in France and not Spain. Interestingly it's NOT illegal to have a radar detector in Spain, but it is to have a jammer. Also, supposedly you're not supposed to have a GPS in your car at eye level?????

Dependant on which GPS you use its possible to download a new software update which suppresses the exact position of a radar but which gives you a radar "zone". This is legal in France but the problem is you're forever in zones.

If you see a panel in France showing your speed in green numbers, its advising that you are travelling at a legal speed, but that there is a radar ahead somewhere. If your numbers are red, you're going too fast and will get flashed unless you slow down. These "intelligent" radar warnings are starting to replace the old radar signs which the government started to take down, until the population started complaining if the radars were there for safety reasons, why take away the signs, if not for any reason other than to generate revenue in speeding fines?

Paul, I live in Jersey and ride in france quite a bit as only an hour to St Malo by fast ferry, have you thought about registering your bike and licence here to avoid so many hassles, I have never been stopped over there, although only excessively speed when I can see it is clear. Also never been stopped for not being reflectoman, my kit is all black with no florescent trim or silly stickers on my lid.
