Someone, somewhere is very proud of that sub-frame and I think we should afford that man the respect that he deserves...despite the fact that it is a pile of sh!te....

BAsically as you'll know, on the 4XV the subframe is direct mount to the frame, not bolt on.

So 'someone' has obviously lobbed the bike in the floor, bent the subframe and then cut the standard subframe off !!! They've then tidied it up a bit, but THEN they've cut the top bits of the frame that stick up, changed the anges and re-welded. Now, it's not by all means terrible welding etc... but scares me a little.

They've then built a subrframe out of Lego, Sticklebricks and Meccano. How have they mounted it ? Well, the cross member of the frame (above the shock and towards the engine) has then been drilled and tapped and the new subframe bolted in.

They've then fitted... i used the term 'fitted' in a very loose context.. an R6 seat unit... but with a base and seat pad that's 'home made' and lumpier than cold porridge.

It doesn't terrify me... but you can bet your life i won't be going out at the same time as Trev at Silverstone... i'll feign dropping a glove just to give him a 30s lead in case it all explodes and he's riding along trying to stand up on the pegs as we're all avoiding the debris of the seat unit :)

Okay, it's a 98/99 track bike, R6 bodywork off an 06/07 model (don't ask as I don't know) pretty stock other than a couple of bits here and there.....Weeksy has seen it and if he has stopped laughing he can tell you what it's like....bit ratty at the moment but I am working on that right now, hopefully in shape by Silverstone on 12th Sep. will post a few pics once it is sorted......

Cheers for that...

Dont worry about Jon's request he never uses his track bike anyway.
Never uses his road bike either 14000 miles on an 02 plate :o
