I'd stay clear of any bike with this amount of uncertainty attached to it. Hundreds of bikes are being stolen and resold every day and the Eastern European invasion hasn't helped much.
This bike makes bells ring, walk away mate, really !

I would be wary of this particular bike. I know my onions more when it comes to Ducatis but I've carried this idea across with me; if you have the slightest hint of it being dodgy then walk away.

Thing is it all checks out fine on the report i had done online! The only explanation i can think of is that it was used when new then either stored or used as trackday bike and put back on the road,all the parts that should have wear have very little! Is there any way of finding out the first owners name or details? He had it from new until 2013

If you could see the log book the first owners name and address will be on it.

Why dont you look for a bike with no faults ? I know you want a bargain buddy but sometimes cheapest isn't the best

Yeh i know! Just that is the same bike,the ad is the previous owner when selling it

Dave, if that advert is from the previous owner then someone is making a quick profit..... My advice from an oldie..... And you can't put an old head on young shoulders.... But I would be having a good look around..... You may end up paying a few more quid but believe me it will be cheaper in the long run... And you will get a good bike...... I really don't like being negative..... But I really would not touch that bike with the longest barge pole you could find..... Too many uncertainties as scrappy says..... The thing is, on this forum between us all we have been there got the t shirt and had the sh!t.... So guys n gals on here are talking from experience.... We want everyone who buys an R1 to experience the bike as it should be... Because then you really will be hooked...... There are loads of 5vys out there take your time and have a good look around.... I will tell you this..... The right R1 will pick you rather than you picking it..... You will know from the time you fire it up if it's the right one fir you...... If you do t get that feeling, it's a bit like getting a hard on.... Sorry fur being crude.... Then the bike ain't fir you.... A good R1 will turn you on the first time you ride it.... A bit like the wife but not as wet... Yes pod.. Too much Borolo

If that is the same bike definately forget it.
Just read the advert, its came from a guy who has race bikes, has had the engine rebuilt, has no lock for the seat, no petrol cap with a key etc
He also says the clocks show 6000 miles, not the bike has done 6000 miles.
It really does sound like a race bike thats been put back on the road.

he states in the ad its had 2 owners,so now he has sold it on and someone else is selling that now makes 4 doesnt it?(or am i missing something?)

Yeh i thot it mudt of been raced too with all the engine and gearbox work thats been done! So i will pass on this one and wait for a solid history one

My gut feeling is that it has been tracked.

The modifications combined with the lack of mileage hints at it.

If you are doubtful about it - there are plenty out there which will give you better feeling, for not much more (if any).
