Hi guys n girls,
Looking forward to getting my new R1 in January, ( never owned a Yamaha always had KAwasaki,s )
Traded in my ZX10r 2012 which was highly modified, =( £8000 + worth ) they are a cracking bike but the new R1 had me

on my test ride so I took the plunge,
Being a total noob to Yamaha bare with me I might ask some daft questions,
My shopping list has already started it could be another epic one lol
Looking forward to the normal banter and pi55 taking
Craig.

Welcome to the forum Craig and as Pete says there are no clicks ( or is it cliques ...... Spelling has never been my strong point, but the guys on here don't seem to notice) on here but plenty of dicks, that's not meant in a gay way or indeed to offend any of our gay members, but it is a great forum, just ensure you have your sense of humour with you at all times.
The new R1 is a fantastic machine, I'm sure you will enjoy yours.
So welcome
Stephen

Cheers mate,
The Akra is on order and so will the link pipe,
Question guys, ( I know it's in the wrong place but in new )
Did you guys fit the can and link pipe before the first service ( does it matter )
And does it need a re map for both ?
Thanks,
Craig.

Was at my dealers last week and they had a 65 plate with ackra and link pipe and it was very very loud , I mean really loud. Not too sure I would decay mine now as I think it would raise the interest of mr plod . Would be interested in others thoughts . I get mine in March [emoji3]

Yes I know a chap that has one with the Akra can and link pipe, he took the link pipe off because he said it was too loud, I had the same set up on my ZX10R which wasn't too bad mate, I don't mind a loud bike but if it's that bloody loud Jesus ?
Like you say don't want to attract any more attention than necessary from the plod,

I have ackras and the link pipe on my 14be and whilst it's loud it's not offensively loud, never had an issue with the police or neighbours when I used to leave for work at 6:15 am , but the new R1 I think would attract attention, it certainly would not pass the 102db noise limit at oulton park as mine does with no baffles

On the odd occasion in the summer when I go work on the bike at 4-45 the neighbours arnt to impressed lol
6-15 is a lay in for me
Do we know what the DB is with the link pipe ?

No I don't mate , sorry although my mechanic told me that with just the ackra on it's not much louder than with the standard can, so that may be better for your neighbours
I used to go to work on the bike every day all year until they retired me off last year, first few weeks one of the neighbours kept on being late for work, he told me my bike was his alarm clock , to be fair to them all, no one has ever had a problem with my bike where I live, unlike some of the chaps on here who have really grumpy neighbours..... Must admit I miss my commute to work

I waited till id ran mine in, no reason really, just aqainting myself with the first bike ive owned with electronics, didnae find runnin in a chore anyhoo, 6000 revs for 600 miles is about 110 mph as I recall, and then 8 thou for another 400 miles, soon had it rattled off , ive not mapped it yet and it runs and sounds epic, it is loud with my set up, dunno how loud but I don't care anyhow, ive heard ( on the Yank forum) the arrow is 112 db with no baffle and that sounds about right hehe, you really need the decat to get any noise and too save weight so if its too loud for ya youll need to get a baffle sorted for that there Akra lol, oh and order a exup eliminator as youll be ditching that and youll need tae plug it in to avoid a Fi light in the dash

, I took mine off , pees a pish job.
