Welcome to the forum mate.
So you're from the island, I went there once but everyone looked at me like I was an alien...never went back.
If you want to share stories, today I had a right old laugh with some Hindu gent that came in for a headlamp bulb to be fitted, he was a little bit nuts, but in a non offensive loveable way. I told him to drive his car in the workshop, but he proceeded to reverse in, so I then stopped him and said "No, turn it around and drive in forwards"...he shuffled the car around a bit and then proceeded to reverse in once again. I stopped him and said "now look, you're close, but not close enough, drive out...turn your car around and then drive into the workshop in a forwards motion". This time he managed to get it right.
I take the headlamp out(Mondeo)start to change his bulb and ask what religion he is if he doesn't mind me asking, "not at all" he says, tells me he's Hindu from Mumbai, starts chatting about life and how it's about happiness..."do you remember that song about happiness?" he asks (At this point, maybe I should remind you to imagine his voice in a classic Peter Sellers Indian voice), He starts to try and recite this song and tells me "everyone deserves their chunk of the cheese", I said "you probably mean slice of the cake", but thinking about it now, chunk of the cheese is much more entertaining. Then he talks about music and how the message is important, I agree with him, then he says "I love that song about the twist", I say "do you mean Lets twist by Chris Montez?" He says "yes". So then when I ask him about the lyrical content of this song, he says " It's all about the twisting"(whilst carrying out the twisting motion)...by this time Timbo and me are cracked up, all three of us have got tears of laughter rolling down our face, I guess you had to be there really, the innocence and beauty of this man was not only in some way hilarious but also simply awe inspiring and made me feel just how much I wished everyone could be just like him. He was so humble, funny and such a beautiful person.
Job done, "off ya go then mate",
"How much do I owe you?"
"Nothing"
"I must pay you something please"
"No mate, you've made laugh more than anything else this week, just go do someone else a kind act and that way we'll eventually create a better world to live in"
I wish I could meet someone like that every day. I wish I could be like him.
Enjoy the forum,
Pete.

Reminded me of a woman who came into my shop the other day (kind of a cash converters sort of shop) she was trying to find a couple of films - being my usual helpful smiley self

I popped onto the shop floor & found what she was looking for, then helped her pick a couple of age-relevant games for her kids - I'm smiling and being friendly and chatty as usual

then she walks over to pay and as she didn't as for a discount I chucked a game in for free - she's obviously smiling & really happy too by this point & as she's walking towards the door, she turns back round and says 'you're really happy' to which I replay - there's no other way to be & out she goes with a smile on her face - I hope she spread the happiness that day at least
Love my job sometimes

Wow Dan, welcome to the forum and just look at the thread you have started. Yes sadly we do sometimes go off tip of, but hay, it makes life interesting and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside, well Pete and Paul have given me that this morning..... Nope that don't sound quite right,

you know what I mean.
Anyway, tell us a bit about your biking history, you didn't by any chance own a cough cough Honda CBR years ago, about 15 years ago I knew a dan from the IOW who had a Honda CBR? Just wondering if it was you, there can't be many dans on the island.
Anyway we also like pics on here, the links below should help with that.

Anyway, join in with the banter, ask any questions you have, the guys in here are very knowledgable and helpful, even our Luke is getting helpful and diplomatic in his old age, anyway welcome and have a laugh.
Stephen

Welcome in Dan
I like to run a happy building site , I like to think that if everyone spent 5 mins extra to save someone else 15 mins later on we'd all be happier , life's so much easier when we work together
