Hi Everyone.

I'm not new to Yamaha's but new to the forum I've been riding cross plane R1 since they where launch had two including a 50th anniversary but have recently upgrade to a R1M in May and felt the need to join as I'm pissed over the gearbox issue and wanted to find out what was going on within the biking community.

Getting away from that it was great to meet all the other guy's when I went to Belgium for the the Yamaha track day which was a bit of a wash out but never mind still got two laps with Colin Edwards leading me around.

Welcome mate
There is a thread regarding the gearbox recall it has a load of info on but most people are same as you, pissed off.
Get some pics of your bikes up if you can.

Welcome in Darren
The gearbox issue is a bit of a shitter but it looks like yamaha are getting it sorted , theres a thread on the gearbox recall in the 2015 R1 section if you haven't seen it yet , a lot of people are angry and i don't think the fiasco with the 2015 launch has helped but from what i can see yamaha have worked hard to sort this out as quick as possible .

you'd best get some pics up of your bikes and a bit more about your biking history before you get mobbed
get yourself a free photobucket account & follow the idiots guide to posting pics from your pc
posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=10659
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/

1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.

or you can post direct from your not so smart phone using tapawank (tapatalk) it's great for posting pic's & notifications but wank for viewing the forum ;)

Welcome to the forum Darren, I too am on my third banger and it too is the anniversary one, and I'm moving to an R1M next year :D . I'm gutted for you about the gearbox and as Jompy has posted there has been a lot if discussion on the forum about that, but you know Yamaha and they are a bloody good manufacturer and as I always said I have never had an issue with any warranty claim made.

Now we love pics on here so any change of us seeing some pics of your bikes .... See the links below for help

As I say I'm gutted for you about the gearbox, other than that what's the M like to live with day to day?

Welcome to the forum

Biking history.

Got interested when my daughter wanted a led so did my direct access and haven't looked back, brought and rode a firestorm to the test centre soon got fed up with it so exchanged it for a 954 blade got fed up with that so exchanged it for a 2008 fireplace, wrote it off so went for the R1 and that's where I have got to with road bikes. Brought an 2000 R6 and went tracking until I high sided at Charlie's two at Cadewell park and broke my shoulder.

Got fed up with my wife wanting to go on the back so put her through direct access she has managed two cross plane R1 and then switched to MT09 until she wrote her one of and nearly lost a finger in the process, she now back on a GSXR1000.

With regards to the gear box problem already spoken to trading standards and will be throwing the bike back at the finance company as unfit for purpose.
