Newbie
Hi,
Just thought I would introduce myself. I had a bike donkeys years ago but soon realised it wouldn't be too long before I did myself a nasty mischief and so designed and built a little sports car in the 80's. I then went on to fit a Suzuki TL1000R V-twin in one of them, and I am currently building another with a 4C8 R1 engine.

Re: Newbie
welcome in buddy
As the guys say get some pics up & explain the builds
get yourself a free photobucket account & follow the idiots guide to posting pics from your pc
posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=10659
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/
1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.
or you can post direct from your not so smart phone using tapawank (tapatalk) it's great for posting pic's & notifications but wank for viewing the forum

Re: Newbie
Thanks for the warm welcome.
I will sort out a photobucket account and post up some photos.
In the meantime, here someone else's in-car footage from the Plum Pudding races at Mallory Park on Boxing Day last year. The Suzuki TLR powered car is the yellow one (number 33), which is a couple of rows behind the camera car on the start grid. That car is 120 BHP at the wheels, the new car with the R1 4C8 will be about 155 to 160 at the wheels

Re: Newbie
I will try and upload some photos:
Not fully decided on body shape yet. I was thinking of keeping it the same as the Hornet Mk4 ( yellow car in the youtube clip) but quite fancy the idea of a classic looking car inspired by the Macau Spitfire that in Macau in the sixties. This is what I am trying to create:

Re: Newbie
Well that seemed to work ok
The bulge in the bonnet is for the airbox on the engine, which gives you an idea of how far back it will be. The engine is rotated through 90 degrees so the face of the sprocket is towards the flange on the diff. The sprocket is replaced by an adaptor for a propshaft to the diff to drive the rear wheels.
Heres the car as it stands so far. There is a central tub made from aluminium honeycomb, to which steel tube subframes are fitted to take the suspension, steering, diff, etc. The tub is quite high and will just fit within the bodywork. There are no doors, you just climb in from the top.

Re: Newbie
Heres a view with a Spitfire fibreglass bonnet in place. The bonnet needs the wheel arches cutting out and moving 3" higher and 2" out. The back of the bonnet needs cutting off and moving 12" further back, then the gaps need filling and a bulge for the airbox needs to be fitted. A mould will be taken and then the new bonnet made

Any chance you could start a thread in the projects section, that would be great, if you can start the thread i could transfer all the stuff you've already posted across if you like
