quick introduction,as I'm new to this site. I've had many bikes over the years, been riding R1s since 99.
Had a brief holiday from them with a Beemer S1000RR but that's now gone to make way for my (ordered) 2016 R1.
I'm looking forward to tasting the latest 'flavour' of loveliness, especially on track, I've been doing track days since
2000 which brings me to a question.....among many, and that's noise and exhausts, ok that's 2 already lol,
I'll search for the info about Db measurements if anyone's posted that. Anyway great to be on here and
hope I can (maybe) bring something to the party. :P

Welcome in Paul
As for 2016's & noise only time will tell but from the little i've read all the after market systems seem to be above 105db
theres a forum track day at the end of march at Donny if you fancy it , its in the track day section ;)

my bike will have arrived by then, still not built so they tell me,
maybe mid April is their (dealers) best guess, I'll be chomping at the bit by then :shifty:

From what we have seen, only 1 decat system has come in under 105dba staic (ride by 102) as measured for castle combe track , the full evo or racing line from Akarpovic.

Not had a Seton, but they are a 102 3/4 system.

The thing is you need a long can , which means function not looks. ;)

Great to talk to you today P.

Hope the PipeWerx system is good for you. Have to say if I didn't have the opportunity to have Phil Seton sort my bike when I did, I'd happily keep it. Baffle out is sounded lovely. Baffle in, I'd hope it would be OK for noisy days.

Cheers M, well I will find out, not too bothered as like most of us I do absolutely love bike noise and it don't come much sweeter that the crossplane howl (for me anyway)
I am prepared to change to standard for the track if I have to but for the road I want it full on! And I do actually like the look of the longer style can, also I think it makes the engine sound deeper and not too raspy, if you know what I mean :D

Hi mate, thanks for the welcome. I certainly hope it will be trouble free, I was trying to find out from the dealer last week if my bike had been built yet as I was dreading the thought of my brand new bike needing the engine out before it got to turn a wheel, but thankfully it's not yet built so I've been assured it will have all the very latest updates.

This gearbox problem... Now I've read the Yamaha recall notice online but I can't find anything about anyone having the actual failure for real?

Has anyone heard of a gearbox actually failing on a 2015 R1?

More precaution on the safety side no doubt. It's going to be a long few months for you waiting on your M, worth it though. 8-)

tiny pic's is good too if you don't want to make an account
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/

1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.

Tried the tinypic route, didn't see any resize option but the rest was easy, anyway here goes, if it works this will be a picture of nice background with a (my last bike) BMWS1000RR...cough...spit....Image

It worked
