Hi everyone , brought my first Yam R1 4xv (red /white ) about 7 months ago .It had been standing for 6 years , part of a collection . A carb clean and service brought the bike back to life . Not completely standard but looking to put back to original condition if I can get the parts- exhaust , rear mudguard , indicators ( at the right price ). Cheers .

Welcome to the forum Nick, glad you have seen the light and moved from Suzuki to a proper bike  , sh!t, that's got me into bother with the gay boys on the forum ...... Sorry bloody predictive text, I meant GSXR boys

This is a great forum, we have a good laugh , some people have a winge or let of steam, we will be either supportive or take the p!ss out if them, but hay at the end if the day we are here fir one and all. No cliques on here, as Colin says, you get out what you put in.

Good luck with turning your 4xv back to OE spec, monkey face, aka Jompy will be along later to tell you the dos and donts with that bike, sadly, through his own experiance he has worked out by himself how not to fix the bike correctly, so his knowledge is priceless

Anyway welcome

Stephen

Heres a bit of info for you bud
"Those 4xv's are a lovely bike , they share a lot of parts with the 5jj like frame, wheels & engines are similar , things that are different are ECU , bodywork i.e. tank , fairing , seat unit & headlight also the radiator & wiring looms are different .
Make sure you look in the 4xv & 5jj sections .
Check the main 20pin white plug on the wiring loom that sits behind the left hand fairing to make sure its in good order & been greased as these can cause problems , the HT leads can break up when old where the plug cap screws on & cause misfire all you need to do is cut 5-10 mm off the end & screw the cap back on , also DON'T tighten the sump bolt up to 42nm its a lot less more like 15-20nm .
get the service manuals and parts micro fiches for both the 4xv & 5jj downloaded , use the online PDF link & down load the parts manuals from there .
http://www.partzilla.com can be helpful for online parts micro fiches for getting part numbers & checking prices in the states as theyre prices are cheaper or you could try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/browser/ ... bike/yzfr1
enjoy :)"
get yourself a free photobucket account & follow the idiots guide to posting pics from your pc
posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=10659
if you don't want to open a photobucket account then an alternative is go to
http://tinypic.com/

1 - "choose file" and browse to the image you wish to upload from your PC
2 - In the "resize" drop down choose either 15" or 17" screen (15 is enough and fast too)
3 - Press "upload now" where it will ask you to type in a couple of words to confirm you are a human being and not an automated program.
4 - Once done copy the text from the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" field
5 - Then just paste it exactly as is in to your message.

or you can post direct from your not so smart phone using tapawank (tapatalk) it's great for posting pic's & notifications but wank for viewing the forum ;)
