Hi,
Thought I better say Hi, my names Andrew been ridding 18 years currently living in derby, just brought a new 2003 R1 after my 2001 R1 has blown its 3 stator in 18 months I suspect its the main bearing but will get round to that one day.

Welcome to the forum andrew, sorry to hear of the problems you are having with your older R1. As Jompy aka monkey face, hence the avatar, that's actually a good likeness to him, says we have quite a few members around Derby, including the tight arsed strawberry blond, I don't mean he is gay it's just that you need a spanner to get a 50p coin from his tight fisted hand
As you have probably guessed, we are as mad as a barrel load of frogs, and I don't mean the French variety , yes we have lots of mostly good humoured banter in here, a good laugh and we are here fir each other when things are not going so well. The guys, appart from me, are very knowledgeable about all things mechanical, so any questions just ask. Oh and when people need bits for their bikes, it's amazing what spares are sitting in people's garages or sheds.
So any questions, just ask, join I the banter and laugh along with us, oh and post up some pics of your bikes, we love pics on here

Welcome to the forum. Some very knowledgeable members here, although you'd never guess it!Cavywavy wrote:Hi,

Have you changed the reg/rec on your 5jj? That's usually what kills the stators. Almost forgot to mention, but don't fit the 5jj one, you want the one for the 14b. There are sellers on the US eBay that sell upgrade kits including the cabling.
