Good day to all, I'm not only new to here, but I'm new to forums in general, although I've read a few posts on various ones over the years..

So be patient, I'm sure my signature n avatar will look well out of sync with anything... I'm not a teenager after all..

Still on my same 5vy for the last 8 years, and no real intention of changing it any time soon, as I mostly work abroad, I'm not doing the same mileage as I used to when I worked back home, well I maybe do in a year now, what I once did in in a couple of weeks... Hoping to change that though, with a return home soon..

I'll find a couple of photos of it, and get them up at some point... and a couple of questions too, even though I've been riding bikes for 33 years, and had various ones over the years, they each have their own little things, and you learn new sh*t every day...

Be good all, n catch you soon, with what some may consider a stupid question or two, but hey I can answer things others can't, that's why we help each other...

Where do you work rigpig? I'm a drilling maintenance superintendent for CNR in the North Sea, I'm currently on Ninian central but I'm stuck here for a few more days due to weather. Things are brutal at the minute eh

Good day sir, things aren't good at the moment at all, and too many gurus out there saying it will rise one minute, then it will collapse the next.. Just wish the US and OPEC would sit down and talk, as regardless they will make money, it's just us and our families that suffer..

Be safe out there, far too damn cold for my liking, I've mostly been in the Middle East, SE Asia, and the Far East for the past 14 years, needs must to pay the bills and keep a roof over the family, just the time away from them is sh*t.. currently in Kuwait, as the Ops Manager, but by far on superstar wages as some seem to think, although some are, but their lucky enough to pick up the consultancy and contractor jobs, but those are getting scarce too..

Hopefully it will pick up again, and we can breath a little easier and keep working, as I don't fancy being out there with the thousands of others trying to get that handful of places.. Maybe our paths have crossed in The Web over the years, you never know...

Most of the ME is onshore based, with Jim Henson's love children as DSM/ Company Men, most of which are local or Indian, as it's cheaper.. Saudi does have some offshore with Aramco, and I think Iran will be gearing up soon for offshore exploration...

Plenty offshore installations in Asia Pacific, and the people n places are much nicer, I'd rather be back there, than here any day.. This was only meant to be a 6 month at the most to get them back on track, with Ops, but then the regional manager wouldn't release me, saying that I was needed here to keep things smooth, but hey it does pay the bills, that's all that counts at the end of the day, at least when I was in Oman there was plenty to do on down time, pretty much forget the rest of the places, it's sh*t expensive, well I think so at least, apart from fuel n smokes..

Baku and parts of Russia used to be busy, but not sure these days, Oz and Canada are all but finished really.... we can only hope it gets better, but stemming the flow of IS oil might help a tad, or sanction the people that are buying it at least..

Yeah your right, I can't see the powers allowing this to go on much longer, it will either end in some sort of deal and everyone will be great guys or someone is going to go to war. That's the grim reality of it I think.

I've been talking to a company about a job in Baku, a new drilling company just setting up and are looking for guys to write their maintenance procedures etc, only problem is its residential with is no good having a wife and two kids but they are talking about rotational a jobs so see what happens .
Or we could get a budget to go drilling with my current company, we have priced the reactivation at costing 4 million which is short change to these companies but they are not spending anything they don't need to at the minute.
No budget = No jobs.

Being here in the ME, you do here rumblings about going to war with the odd country or two, Iran is looking favourite at the moment for the Saudis, but it always has, as they can't control any of it, but hopefully it won't come down to a war, Trump as he new prez, will just close the borders and not have anything to do with th rest of the world, unless they specifically want something...

I've always been rotational, as the family would never move, but I still like home, be nice if both governments would just shut the f#ck up and do something, rather than p@ss around and waste tax payers money, but hey ho, that's govts. for you, and will never change.. I won't air my political views though, as it's not polite and I will offend people, well some of them at least...

Hopefully something turns up for you bud, never a good thought, wondering what's going to happen next hitch..
Monitoring and completions, so we cover smart surface control for optimisation and the down hole side of it, along with lumps of metal.. we got bought out 2 years ago by one of the bigger blue companies, the last time the price dropped, it didn't affect us at all, although it wasn't as bad as this, but being part of a bigger entity, you do worry a little more about your job in these times..

You 100% won't offend anyone by putting your views accross on this forum mate, there's people from all walks use this forum and each and everyone of us have different views, some like mine are just scratching the surface but some other people have a far deeper insight into the inner workings of the govts and it makes for some interesting conversations

time was, the only rigs you saw there, were the ones floating out from Nigg through the Suters..

Kind of lost touch with people around there, except the family, think I should head North when I get back for a few days, touch base with home, see how the pubs have changed at least..
