Need R1 electrical parts

I have a 2002 R1 (5pW1). it was fitted with a data tool system 3 alarm/imob. My problems started when a friend knocked off the in-line fuse connection from the alarm.

No matter what we tried, we could not get the alarm to function again. At that point it was only possible to start the bike by shorting the starter relay. At this time as the alarm was useless, I paid a mechanic to remove the alarm system. He managed to get the bike to start from the starter button but the engine would only run for a few second then cut out. He believed the fault was the tilt switch or worst case scenario - new wiring loom. I then replaced tilt switch and this did not help. Another friend thinks I have a faulty fuel pump relay but have had difficult finding this part to replace. Have not yet replaced the wiring loom as also have had difficulty getting wiring loom.

If anyone can offer advice or knows of a same model bike being broken for parts I would be grateful for help or contact to buy parts.

Please please help.

Mark.

where abouts are you? i have removed an alarm on my 5pw then later changed the loom, if your local im happy to pop over and have a look ( im near Heathrow)
If the bike starts and runs for a few seconds i dont think its the fuel pump , can you hear the pump prime when you turn the bike on ?

Also the 2002 loom is different to the 2003 loom, hazards , lights perm on is 2003 model.

Hi Guys. Forgive my lack of etiquette, didn't know about introduction. I had a problem getting on the forum as I am not too hot with technology. What can I tell you? I am in Bristol, am 52, have been riding bikes since 1981. On my second R1, first was a beautiful blue 99 model which was written off in a 120+ mph crash in S of France 9 years back. Now have a 02 5PW1 with electrical issues. Good news is this one has an Online steering damper! Cheers!

thats better pal ;) welcome in mate - mr ypvs is good with bike electrics if youre anywhere near him - i have a system 3 on mine but its good as gold so have never had to dabble - if the bike was fine b4 the fuse issue - it sounds like yer bike mechanic hasn't re-connected everything properly??

Thanks Mark YPVS for earlier post. I can hear the pump priming. And if I keep the starter button pressed down the engine keeps running.

Hmm, someone else had a similar problem recently but I don't recall if he posted the solution.

I would hazard a guess that the wiring hasn't been completely returned to original.

If the alarm is still fitted - you could do what you shoulda done in the first place- just defeat all aspects of the alarm/I mob without screwing with the loom.

If it is still there - pm me your e-mail address and I'll send you a "how to" guide.
