Hello there,
My name's Ben and I've recently bought an R1 14B and have quite a few questions about it, so thought I'd go online to find out more!
The newbie post said to write a brief description and riding history, so here goes:
I used to love going out for ride-outs with my mates, years ago, but sadly that's all in the past now and I only get to commute on the R1 these days. The rest of my time is taken up with family and chores! My last bike was a 4C8, but I highsided it on the road last August after a very localised afternoon shower dampened the road surface mid-bend. The bike was a write-off, hence the new to me 14B...which is a very different bike to the 4C8.
My riding history is fairly varied, but I started off riding quickly on the road, then started tracking. Then raced with Bemsee for several years, culminating in finishing 2nd in the minitwins championship. After that, I calmed down a bit and tried to replace bikes with a sports-car (VX220 Turbo), but the biking itch was always there so I replaced the VX with the 4C8, which was exciting right up to and at the time of its demise.
So that's me in a few lines. Nice to be here, I've lots to learn about the 14B. First on the list though seems to be the clutch plate fix (mine's grabby and very noisy as it grabs) and the ECU flash. Oh, and I've already put a 49 tooth rear sprocket on since the standard gearing seems a bit high, which has certainly helped, but the ECU flash seems like a 'must do' as well.
