Hello from bishops stortford

Post by Daws1989 »

Hello from bishops Stortford,

I thought it was about time I signed up to an R1 forum!

I currently own a 2007 Yamaha r1 that I turned into a naked back in February but decided to wreck it two weeks ago, so- watch this space and I will upload pics in due course...

Looking forward to the hate posts as to why I turned it into a naked... ;)

Not sure if that's sarcasm...

I sold the fairings, bought some Chinese ones (that are much better than I expected) and still have the nose cone etc in the box. Haven't decided what to do with them yet. Or the old forks/clip ons etc

Welcome to the forum Bret, nice opening post. As peels say, Jompy, or mo key face as he is known doesn't like fairings either so his R1, or the half one as we call it is naked too . At the end of the day, it's your bike and for you to decide how you want her to look and ride , some people like to bling their R1's or turn them into dedicated track weapons or street fighter them, we are all different and the world would be a biting place if we were all the same.

We all have the p!ss taken out if us from time to time, this is a great, friendly and supportive forum, so any questions just ask, someone will have been that's, done that and got the t shirt to boot.

Sorry to hear if your off the other week, at the end of the day, bikes can be repaired or even replaced, us humans, or primates in the case of Jompy can't be replaced ,so I'm glad you were ok.

Anyway welcome and we look forward to watching you bring your R1 back to life albeit somewhat short of clothes

Welcome

Stephen :D

Welcome in Bret
As the guys say I have a 4xv fighter and I love my fighters with the fairing ripped off & a set of renthals , none of these gay rear ends & Wurlitzer paint jobs for me .
Sam intended no sarcasm BUT you will get sarcasm & piss taking on here but it's all meant in a fun kind off way so join in , just watch out for the fishermen , they love a good bite ;) :character-jaws:
After seeing pics of Tangos 5pw I got a KTM exc headlight for mine & butchered that into place , I think it was £140 all in including the light protector & delivery

Welcome in Daws.
We like all bikes in here, except for Rob's Hardley Movingson.

Nice chopping you've done there, I like a good fighter.

Can I ask, do you still have the original nose cone brace and do you fancy selling it ?

I had a whoopsy at Cadwell this weekend .

Thanks bud,

If you mean the metal stay/bracket/brace thingy-ma-do-da then no. Unfortunately that went a few weeks back.

I do however still have all the front fairings (new) in gloss black if there any good?

Scrapman, when I ditched my 5VY at the Ring I bought a fairing brace on eBay, brand new copy, it was really good and fitted perfectly.

Scrapman is right, they are cheap on eBay if you don't mind ones that are not genuine.

Il be honest, I lied a little... I bought my bike as a crashed r1, whenever I say it was a crashed r1 people normally go Ito the whole 'that's stupid don't by a crashed bike blah blah blah'

But you all seem decent and I'm struggling to keep it up...
It did look like pic one 2 days before it was sold. Then it looked like scrap mans... 1 fork is slightly bent and the front fairing was damaged. Apart from that it's fine.

(Sorry) I feel a little guilty now but ah well... [emoji58]

Please forgive me lol
