an R1 a day keeps insanity away

No worries boys. Bin ridin bout 20 years. First bike rd 125 then 350 lc. Then as follows what I've owned over time. Zxr 400 zx7r +3 98 & 99 r1 +3 mvf4 750&1000. Gixer thou. Kim rc8r & 990 supermoto 3 Honda hornets an now just have the r1m. The m is def the best bike I've owned its a lot better than I am. Like to do bit of touring odd track day an riding just for the hell of ridin.

Fast , reliable funny enough , went touring round Europe on it track days ,it never missed a beat. Bloody loud with a full arrows system. Handled beautifully. BUT it always felt like it wanted to kill you. It was either on or off no in between as no gadgets like the bikes now.

Yes mate. I'm no Rossi but the m is awesome to ride its goin up the road a lot faster than you think your goin. My only criticism is the throttle in mode A is quite snatchy perhaps a pwr commander will sort that.i will give it a few more ride outs before I spend any more on it. Or I'll be livin in the garage with it. Know wot I mean.

theres a few places around , r1Mike offers a postal service using flash tune to sort your ECU then theres plenty of other places , i know a guy who Remapped my wifes hypermotard who's around the leicester area

Welcome to the forum Steve, cracking name is that and you also have a cracking bike .

I find my throttle smooth even in A mode, but I guess it's what you were used to previously, I came from the Big Bang R1 and that did have a snatchy throttle, so this one now is better, hence my view, however I know some guys on here who have come from other bikes and they have the same issue as you, I suppose what I'm trying to say is the throttles will be the same its just that for me this is an improvement on what I previously had before I fitted the PCV to it .

You need to get the cat off and then you can sort the throttle out with FlashTune, which we sell as a DIY kit or you can mail in your ECU to us to do for you.

The Blipper we do for clutchless downshift is the best on the market and really is an excellent mod for road and track riding, no clutch on downshifts below 4000rpm

Cheers for the advice. But will have to ride as is for a bit as er indoors wants the spare sheckles for a new kitchen.

Steve, I took my M out the other day for a slow run and I found the throttle a tad snatchy in A mode, never experianced that on this bike before, now I know my mind wasn't fully concentrating, hence the slow ride I really was just pootling but I'm wondering perhaps I was gripping the bars too hard, my wrists were aching again something I've not experianced in this bike before so I'm guessing perhaps it was something I was doing, holding on too tight hit a bump my wrist moves and makes the throttle jurk? Just a thought and regarding the wrists, holding on too tight can starve the hands and forearms of oxygen.... Is that why they were aching ? Just a thought, I will see how I get on on the next run.
