Welcome to the forum Anthony, Dorset..... what a beautiful county you live in and an anniversary R1 to boot, what a beautiful bike, please post up some pics, we love pics on here, and whilst we all know what the anniversary looks like, we haven't seen your bike sonpics needed. Also tell us a bit about your biking history, what bikes you have had, what you liked about them, what wasn't so good, what yiublike and yes, don't like about your R1, yeah we know thay are good bikes but we all change something .... to make them fit what we like.

Anyway welcome to Yamahar, we are not just a forum, we are a community of like minded people, from all walks of life, some of us rude Yamaha's, others suzukis, dare I say cough cough hondas and worst still BMWs .... still it takes all sorts

I've been riding a few years, mostly sport bikes. There are a few bikes in the garage as the Mrs rides also, we enjoy getting on track as much as we can as riding on UK roads just ain't what it used to be.

Treated myself to the R1 as a birthday present last month. Always want one I've done around 500 miles had her serviced and landed a bill for £659 for a new radiator road damage punctured a vein and she bled to death all over the front tyre, still, luckily it happened about 30 feet before a pulled up. Lucky escape!

Yes that was very lucky still gutted fir you, I fitted a radiator guard and oil cooler guard to mine , they are a tad exposed where they are

Here's a couple of pictures. I've fitted a load of extras, Gilles levers, R&G crash bungs, fork and rear spindle protectors, GB Racing covers and most recent are evotech radiator and oil cooler guards, still can't believe that after only 400 miles the radiator punctured leaving me with a hefty bill

Also in the garage are a pair of BMW's, S1000RR and S1000R (the Mrs bike). She also rides a ZX6-R 636 on track.

I'm looking to use the R1 on track and having a real quandary about exhausts and db levels. I want to remove the rather large and heavy Cat but need to control the db's. Any advice and experience welcome

The track boys will no doubt be along to help out with your exhaust question but there's threads about with plenty of info in the meantime. Search Termignoni exhausts for one.

damn thats unlucky about the radiator, fantastic bike though ain't it !

we sell the Spark Exhausts which are 102db without a baffle (although can be further baffled if needed), sound really nice too, we also do the Seton exhaust which is also 102db but cannot be baffled.

They do a good fish n chips on the quay here I've posted about my experience with the failures of both radiator and RAC in the R1/M section.
