Hi Neil, welcome to the forum and congratulations on purchasing your first R1 :D

Let me explain Newsh's comment regarding the banger..... the cross plane R1 has a Big Bang engine, hence it gets called a banger, some member states also refer to them as sausages because a banger is slang for a sausage.....

Anyway enough of that, the banger is an awesome bike, it is different to ride than other R1's and can take some getting used to, it's a big bike, it likes to be muscelled into corners and loves the gas, once mastered they are a very rewarding bike to ride, I know I've had three of them , and they have a soundtrack that's pure music to your ears, its like the BBC Philomonic playing land of hope and glory at the Royal Albert Hall........ awsome :D , but with a few more pops, bangs and splutters to add to the fun. :D they really ar a beautiful bike, any questions about this awsome machine just ask....

Now... what colour have you gone for?
What attracted you to this R1
What other bikes have you had? What did you like about them? What wasn't so good about them?
Where do you ride, road, track or both?

This is a fantastic forum, we love to get to know new members and for them to get to know us, so welcome

Stephen :D

Thanks all for the friendly welcome

Now... what colour have you gone for?: I chose the matt black and gold, after looking around just thought it looked soooo nice

What attracted you to this R1: Awesome sound especially with the fitted Leovince LV-one Evo cans, an R1 has always been something I wanted to own before I get too old and have to settle for a sit up and beg :D

What other bikes have you had? What did you like about them? What wasn't so good about them? : My last 2 bikes have been Suzuki GSXR 600 SRAD and most recently Suzuki GSXR 750 K7, both machines were a joy to ride, especially the 750, could not fault either apart from the 600 not being the comfiest after long periods (the 750 was a lot more comfortable). I tend not to swap my bikes often so the R1 will be my 3rd bike in the last 15 years and usually do under 3k a year

Where do you ride, road, track or both?: I only ride on the road, never done a track day. Whichever bike I have owned has been a pure toy and not an everyday machine. Sunny dry day rider :)

I will throw some pictures on at some point of the new toy
