first post, I have been looking for a R1 to restore, as this is what I spend my spare time doing,

I have finished my 93 Fireblade now and I wanted a 98-99 R1, but struggling to find one in a decent enough quality to restore, I don't want a full nut and bolt restoration this time. The few I have seen have been sheds, 2 stolen recovers (not recorded) but badly repaired and hidden. The money people want for wrecks is ridiculous. I offered a dealer £1k for a none starter, no MOT 99 bike with the wrong fairings. He refused, still thinks it's worth £2500,

Still looking, but may get an SP instead.

4xv's are starting to fetch silly money , there was a couple the other year that supposedly fetched double the normal asking price and it's pushed the prices up especially on early 4xv's and a dealer will have your pants down . 5jj's are practically the same bike but still at a reasonable price .
Bubs is a nice bike that wasn't running and had problems when he bought and he's since had it sorted , here's the project thread from the guy Bub bought it from .

I live in South Cheshire, I have been riding for a good few years now, and covered approx 30K miles or so, I got in to bikes after I got bored with cars, I have restored, built and worked on cars since I was 15, too many years ago to remember now

I was looking for my next challenge and my wife suggested I take my motorbike test, I was never in to bikes, just cars. My Brother was a bike nut, had to have one the first minute he was old enough, choosing a 636 Ninja in the late 90s, even then I was not interested.

But after doing my CBT, I want to try more, so went direct access, passed first time, I always loved the American Choppers you see them building on Discovery channel, that is what I thought I wanted, but after spending a long time looking I came across an old Fireblade sat in the corner of the Honda Manchester dealers warehouse, I loved it, I then bought a 93 Fireblade, restored it, went all over the UK with it.

I bought a Harley Night Rod in 2015, please don't shoot me, I love the brute force of v twin engine, lovely bike to cruise on a sunny day, but I still go back to my fireblade as my first choice of bike.

I bought a CBR125RR for my wife to learn on, after she expressed an interest in learning, that goes up for sale soon, as I need the room in my garage for the R1.

I did not realise it, but according to many guides I fit the squid profile!! As my fireblade has blue bolts throughout, as I have rebuilt it I have used Pro-Bolt blue titanium and aluminum bolts, black adjustable levers with blue adjustment screws. Everything used has been the best parts I could get. Next I will be fitting samco blue hoses, this was meant to be my winter job, but I moved house last year, and it has taken months to fix it up.

I am going to take the advanced riding course this spring from IAM, because why not,

Oh, I forgot to say, don't hold the fact I fitted a top box to a sports bike against me, I use my bike a lot to commute and stay away for work, so lots of storage is needed.

Welcome to the forum Neil in south Cheshire Good luck in finding your perfect R1, Bub is a good guy and a man of his word . Nowt wrong with commuting on your bike , I used to do that daily, and occasionally work away, I managed with a big rucksack but hay, if you need a top box you are not alone, Jompy on here has a top box on his R1 . At the end of the day bikes are a personal thing, and your bike has to work for you. Welcome to the mad house, oh and congratulations on getting the biking bug.....
