Hi all, my name is John from Livingston up in the tropical side of the border in sunny Scotland! I just bought an R1 2011, it had to be a big bang as I moved from a sweet sounding Triumph Speed Triple 2011.
I've already changed the clutch plates out and slow movement is improved. I get some rattle when pulling the clutch in though... Could that be the springs being too loose on the back plate thingy?
What should I be doing next?
Also, I need a decent set of panniers for under £100 for a trip to Assen next months for the MotoGP, any recommendations?
And one last thing... Is there any plastic shrouds for the two brothers exhaust system?
Thanks and catch ya around!
John

Hi John, welcome to the forum.
No shrouds for them cans as far as I'm aware. I had the same on mine...sound awesome with the baffles out, bit louder than the Akra's.
Did you do the clutch mod while you were in there?

Thanks mate. Shame the covers don't fit. Clutch mod as in the boss etc from the 4C8? Done it but didn't touch the springs. Will the springs make it feel any better?

Welcome in John
Bikes looking sweet , i know the early R1's suffered from the springs on the basket rattling with age .
ECU re-map is also a very good mod as it removes the emissions restrictions that big the big down at slow speeds amongst other things .
Although i have a 4xv i made a wooden platform to clip in where the pillion seat fits and then fit my Oxford panniers and a bag to that , i could have done with making it wider so the Oxford panniers can't rub the seat unit
And for shits n giggles
