Hi Everyone.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say hi as I have recently bought myself 2009 14b R1.
The bike was in poor condition when I received delivery of the bike. Private seller was not very honest to put it politely. :naughty:
I stripped the bike down to give it the proper attention it needed bringing it back to the way it should be.
I'll post some pictures up of the results.

Loving the big bang engine and looking forward to all your advise on how to get the best from my bike.

Thanks

Hi Jompy, haha not yet it still has the cat installed so probably look at doing the Cat removal and remap at the same time. Early next year. Does it make a big difference as the bike as is feels awesome.

If it's standard it can really smooth out snatchyness at slow speed , calm down the engine braking amongst other things .
Your best off heading over to the Velox racing section and having a read through , all your questions will be answered ;)

As Jompy says + the decat and new map will reduce the heat and stop your arse burning.

The other one to have a read up on is the Graves clutch mod. Best 90 quid you'll spend and a fairly easy job. The standard clutch is pretty awful.

I was going to post a few pics of the bike but gave up as I haven't a clue how to do it.

Thought I would just be able to paste the pics in but to no success. Some threads I have been reading it looks that way as if the picture was pasted in, hmmm I'm not sure. :?

Its as simple as that with the tappatalk app on phone and tablet. Rubbish for forum use but good for pics. Bit of a pain on pc and mac. There's a few threads around fairly recently with some suggested upload sites. On me phone atm so can't find them [emoji848].

I use https://postimages.org it's free and you don't have to register if you don't want to , just upload your pic , copy the direct link , paste it on here then highlight the link as if your going to copy it but click on the image of a tree thats just above where your typing next to the "Font size" and "link" symbols .
If your still unsure then quote my post and you'll see how I've added my pic

Welcome in, this place is great, real community feeling.

Flashing the ECU, setting up the suspension and doing the clutch mod are at the top of my list. Although I might add to that list in the next few weeks.

Haha spot on Jompy thanks for that would never have worked that one out.

Here are a few pics of my bike then. As I said before the bike was in serious need of a proper clean when it arrived. Was very disappointed at the condition as the private seller made out the bike was immaculate :liar: :naughty:

Bike arrived

Looked under the seat and couldn't believe the state it was in.

Started the strip down for a proper clean

Wheels refurb'd gold

Starting to look more the part now

Happy under the seat now

Looking much better

Thanks for everyone's help so far it's been great. I'm loving the banger and looking forward to making the bike even better than it is.

I was thinking along the same lines for upgrade, would also like to fit braided brake lines.

Looks fantastic! Braided lines are also on my list, but in terms of transforming the bike, those three things have made a huge difference. Maybe not power making difference, but feel, control and confidence difference.

As it’s a US bike the flash will get you more power by removing the throttle restrictions. Also, when you tear it apart next, remove the plenum and chop off the restrictor from it. I’d recommend doing this the same time you install a y-pipe and smog block off plates since you need to remove the plenum to get to the AIS system and spark plugs for that matter.
