Welcome in Ian
Enjoy the M
You may want to pop in the 2cr / 2ks section and post your ECU question in there , between you and me most of them don't like mixing with us earlier models

Welcome to the forum Ian..... it’s nice to know Horus has joined the old farts club.... lol

I haven’t de-catted my M, purely because of the noise, I like a loud pipe, but a decayed M (with ackrapovics) is very very loud indeed, Donny has de-catted his with another system and it’s more acceptable noise wise.... not too sure if he flashed his?

I have de-catted my other R1’s and they did benefit from a flash , so I would think the Would be the same..... the thing you need to think about is the noise, I mean if you are doing track days, you need a system that will pass the noise tests, my de-catted banger came out at 101db which was just ok for track, a de-catted Ackra M comes out at about 110bd so would fail, however there are other more reasonable systems out there, as Jompy said, take s look in the 2cr: 2ks section

Welcome

Stephen

Btw.... I know fook all about bikes.... so disregard the above :)

Steve, you know more about bikes than many others here, especially having owned so many R1 models.

You don't have to get it flashed mate, I've done 4000 + miles on my R1 2016 with no issues, but they do run better / smoother once flashed so choice is yours,
